Yes at all. Mine could easily be interpreted as I have interpreted it, but it would just be much harder to follow it.
Yours is a much easier interpretation so people can commit sin without living a perfectly religious life.

Commandments: 1- Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
This means if you have have ever practiced another religion that you have broken this commandment.
2- Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images.
This commandment does not mean do not get tattoos, it means do not get any markings on your body including paint of any holy symbols such as the cross or a religious figure like Mary. Anyone who has ever put a cross on their body with a pen or paint or any of that has broken this commandment.
3- Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain.
"The Lord" here is Jesus, God, Mary, Joseph; whomever your classification of Christianity defines as the lord.
Anyone who has ever said "Oh jesus!" when scared or "Jesus christ!" or "oh my god!" has broken this commandment.
4- Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Half the Christians do not even know what the Sabbath is or when it is, let alone WHY it should be holy. If you don't know what the sabbath is you have broken this commandment.
5- Honor thy mother and father.
If you ever have EVER spoken back to a parent in any way you have broken this commandment.
6- Thou shalt not kill.
This does not simply mean people, it means animals and insects as well. There is no just killing in the eyes of god either so if you have killed anything you have broken this commandment.
7- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
No sex before marriage, you have sex before marriage or cheat on your bf/gf/husband/wife you have broken this commandment.
8- Thou shalt not steal.
Obviously if you steal anything you have broken this commandment.
9- Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
In other words if you have ever told a lie about someone you have broken this commandment.
10- Thou shalt not covet. If you have ever really wanted something regardless if you got it or not than you have broken this commandment. This applies to thinking a guy/girl is cute and wishing you could date them.

Do YOU feel this is possible in this day?

User avatar #475 - purplegorrila (02/03/2013) [-]
You have completely misinterpreted every one of these.
1.) Yes practicing other religions is against Christianity. No shit
2.) It's about not tattoos it's about the sanctity of the human body
3.) It's about when something wrong happens and you say something like "Why would you do this to me god?" Questioning him etc.
4.) Sabbath for Christians is Sunday. Tons of people go to church or at least think about god on Sunday
5.) Just talking back doesn't mean you don't respect your parents. You're taking it to an extreme that it just isn't.
6.) It IS relating to just humans
7.) Adultery is cheating on your wife. NOT premarital sex.
8.) OF COURSE stealing is wrong. Do you actually mean to contest that?
9.) Same with before. Lying is wrong.
10.) Thou shalt not covet is relating to our motives. Its saying we should do things because they are good, not just to get things we want.
And with all of these, we have removed religion from our society. And just because this makes people more likely to go against these doesn't mean they hold less ground. Regardless of how people evolve and change, he set these commandments out and they will always be the right thing.

I'm not even saying that. I'm saying he made a mistake.
If he is this all powerful god who is able to create the universe, it goes without saying that he HAS to know everything. Which would mean he would know how society would change after creating it, so he would make a set of rules that would perfectly apply to all societies.
User avatar #273 - purplegorrila (02/02/2013) [-]

Nobody said what he did was a mistake. He simply changed when he sent down his only son to be undergo the life and temptations of humans, and to die on the cross for our sins. He is a more forgiving loving god now. Not to say how he used to be was bad, just different.
