And my culture, as the king of Ireland, Scotland and England, revolved around murdering anyone I don't like, because I've got more knights than they have archers, more archers than they have infantry and more infantry than god himself could muster. Literally. I could do a one man crusade. Turns out it's very easy to fend for yourself when half the countries on the planet pay you tribute and you spend all that money on upgrading your castles, so you can force even more people to pay tribute.

And I wasn't even doing all that well. Had to reinstall my PC and lost my vanilla CK2, so I had to redownloaded. Got all the expansions while I was at it and suddenly had no idea what anything is or what it does. I should start a new playthrough where I actually try to do well and conquer the viking fucks. That'll teach them for stealing my shit.

Unfortunately, I wasn't playing as the vikings when I first heard it. For me it's less "ODIN FUCK YEAH!" and more "Oh bollocks, the blood normans are back!". I just don't get it, I keep capturing and executing all the commanders and the raiders just keep coming. WHERE ARE THEY RECRUITING THESE FUCKERS?!

If you play as a Viking, your levies and commanders replenish surprisingly quickly as long as you're not bankrupt and have at least one Market upgrade and one Hillfort upgrade. Guess that's what happens when your entire faith is about offing infidels with an axe.

I agree, it doesnt feel like war anymore, more like some kinda anime. Theres hardly any character death, theres a bunch of "we can save everyone" events, and the hoshido route in fates can at times get TOO easy it was ridiculous, i mean somehow the hardened warriors of nohr are no match for a small band of hoshidan samurai? Meanwhile nohrs path talks of how well you're doing while drowning you in enemies and forcing you to do rediculous defence missions when you could have whiped the floor with the enemy if only you could move from that glowing spot.
In shadow dragon we had people like cain who felt guilty for not sraying to die with the other knights, and Wolf who, if he survives, spend the rest of his life fighting in the hopes of somone killing him. The closest you get to romance is the girl who's sweet on marth, but thats only if youre smart enough to not let any archers near her, otherwise she's dead, for good, which is another reason im not fond of the new games. The "retreat" lines are rather stale, and it trivialises the defeat of units. I have a friend who plays on phoenix and thinks she's amazing because she beat the game so quickly.
And i agree the romance is a bit too focused on, but its been part of fire emblem games for a while, so i have no real problem with it. Though dragon realm stuff does help to trivalise the fact theyre at war and gives us some very relaxed romance dialogue, which was a bit rarer in awakening because they had no place to hide from the war, which reflected in many characters dialogue.
And the reasons for getting kids, putting them in realms with sped up times, is just silly.

This stereotype couldn't be more incorrect. There are only two types of brazilians: Robbers, and robbery victims.
