That's literally not even what that word means. Just because a bunch of idiot 22-35 year olds think it's cool to say "I'm spiritual" doesn't make spiritual a religion. There's no organization. There's no structure. There's no beliefs or tenants. Even the Pastafarians have structure, and that's a religion meant to make fun of other religions.

He's right. Spiritual isn't a religion. It's not even a belief or way of living, because it's too vague. "I'm spiritual" conveys absolutely nothing about you whatsoever, beyond that fact that you're probably an idiot.

spiritual isn't a religion but it is a belief because being spiritual means that you have belief in the supernatural and healing crystals and allot of people do use it as a way of living (fortune tellers, Spiritual medium and some African contexts). I don't believe in any of this but clearly some people do.
