it's the difference between making an assertion and making a guess, as well as how much you know about the situation. if youre guessing that youre going to break your leg, then you were wrong. if you were saying that you were going to break your leg and you knew (somehow) for a fact that you would not, then youre lying.

since we can assume that Pinocchio's statement was made in a completely controlled environment, with no surrounding context, then we can say that he is lying because there is no evidence of him telling a lie in the near future, thus making his statement intentionally false. had he told a lie soon after making the statement, then it would be true, but since Pinocchio has complete control over whether or not his nose grows, and we have no knowledge of him telling a lie after this, then we can accurately make the assertion that he was lying.

For him to lie he needs to know the answer for himself or he is just wrong. 1. he knows the answer is no. his nose grows since he was lieing ,but the statement was true. be he himself new the answer was going to be no at that moment, but the growing of his nose made the statement true, but he still lied at that moment. 2. his nose doesn't grow. making the statement false ,but new new it was yes. so his nose can't grow as that wouldn't been a lie, just a false statement 3. he doesn't know the answer and his nose doesn't grow as he can not lie about something he doesn't know the correct answer to. lieing and being wrong are not the same.

but that would mean he was lying, because his nose would not have grown, so his nose would then grow. but if it grew, he would have been telling the truth

Did you read my comment at all? He didn't know if it would grow or not, since he didn't know, it wouldn't be a lie, you can't lie about something you don't know the truth to, and when he makes the statement, he wouldn't already have known if it would grow or not.

That's like me saying "I'll break my leg tomorrow" if I don't actually break my leg tomorrow, I wasn't lying, I was just incorrect

Yes it is, it only takes into account iberian languages, which in the case of America, only spanish and portuguese are spoken. This way it excludes the french speaking countries and regions. If what you are trying to refer to are only the spanish speaking countries than its Hispanoamerica.

Technically it is, thats why the term latinamerica is not very accurate.Thats why I said iberoamerica, which excludes french speaking countries or regions like Haiti or Quebec.

Ibero amrica has the root word Ibero deriving from the word Iberian referring to the iberean peninsula which is spain and portugal, so it's not really any more accurate.
