I'll take your word for it.
My doctor says my refraction is 8.5, if you know what that means. If you don't, I'll just say that without glasses my perfect vision has a range of 2-6 inches from my face.

Man, I'm pretty sure that whatever butt-fucking gayness the Army has in store for me, I've already experienced it ten times over as a Marine.
At the very least, I won't have to wear a napkin on my back as part of my uniform, haha.

Nah. Army takes the cake out of all the services for stupid shit. Just...trust me on this. It's a way bigger service, so basically, you have a greater bureaucracy plus the standards for a larger force are a lot looser so you get a lot of social deformities who would never otherwise pass muster in another branch. You get a lot of good folks too, of course. It's just numerically, it creates those problems.

Also how bad is your eyesight?

I will say this, the Army does a fantastic job of guarunteeing jobs from the get-go. Its what almost got me to join the Army. However...the reason for that is because there is so much butt-fucking gayness.

I was working with another Marine vet and he told me how some reservist kid straight out of boot tattled on him after he chewed his ass. I'm well aware that the reserves are kind of lax, which is why I'm going to strive to do all that I can to become active asap. Besides, I'll spend most of my time as a reservist in MOS school and jump school.

Where'd you deploy?

I have looked. I don't like the Navy. The Marine Corps will demote me back to Lance. Since infantry has such a high cutting score, there's probably no fucking way I'd pick up Sergeant before 4 more years have passed, which means I'd get phased out as an eight-year Corporal.
With the Army, I can keep my rank (even though E-4 isn't even an nco in the Hooah squad), probably pick up Sergeant in a year or two, lat move to active... I'm only going to be a reservist for a year, and I think I need that time to get acclimated to the Army way of doing things and to get my fat body back into shape, you know?

I've got my reasons for compromising. If I wouldn't be demoted, I'd jump back into the Corps in a heartbeat, draw-down bullshit and all, but... even though I feel like I'm betraying the Corps in some way by not reenlisting as a Marine, I've got to face the fact that they'll buttfuck me with the green ween if I do.
User avatar #91 - olias (04/20/2015) [-]
oh, and by the way...cutting scores for Reconnaisance Marines are lower than in regular line units. Just want to throw that out there.
User avatar #90 - olias (04/20/2015) [-]
I am a reservist. I am deploying soon, and once I return I am going to the IRR so I can get SEAL contract. Because of my extraordinary luck, I still have a shot. Not everyone can say the same after 6 years. I am just letting you know, the reserves ain't all it's cracked up to be and the culture of the Active military is very different than that of the reserves. Be careful, mang, and good luck.

I can't wait. I'm disqualified because I had an eyesight waiver to join the Corps.
Literally the only option for me to become infantry is to grease up my fingers and slowly sneak them down the Army's crack like a creepy pedophile.
User avatar #88 - olias (04/20/2015) [-]
If you must...but if you are set on SOF I would look into other branches first. See if you can get BUD/s or hell maybe go back into the Corps as an 0321.
