For everyday use, there is no best system, cause it all comes down to habits.
That said, metric has the advantage of beeing easier to calculate.

are you drunk?

I hate how vague the amount ''cup'' is.... like...coffee cup? tea cup? some giant cup where you eat soup from? or even a glass that you drink juice from?

I cringe when i see a recipe state something like '' 1 1/3 cups of -- '' online . Like wtf, how much am i supposed to take? At least i know that a gram or a millilitre is same in each country.

And as for Celsius/Fahrenheit, i prefer Celsius.. why? because when the weather outside becomes less than 0, i know that things are gonna freeze up (aka, snow and ice form in the winter.)... I dont get the logic behind Fahrenheit... The freezing point is like 32 F... Doesnt sound cold if im planning on going out.

I have used metric all my life and I have the inverse problem. I have no idea how much a yard of salt is but I know what a KG is.
User avatar #208 - vgmddg (07/19/2014) [-]
Yards are a measure of length, not a measure of weight.

I disagree. In my experience, metric is best all around. If its best for science, its best for me.

Pic related. MFW I got deducted a few points on an assignment because my professor wanted the answer in imperical unites, not metric (SI) unites. That might be why I have a personal grudge against the imperial system.
#437 - anonymous (07/20/2014) [-]
wait. You measured something in metric in a university and you get worse grades? Is that a joke?
User avatar #440 - krobeles (07/20/2014) [-]
well, no. It was an assignment where we just had to do a bunch of shit from the text book. And since the book was an American one, the assignments specifically said "Give all answers in Imperical unites, please". So technically, I didn't do what the assignment asked, so I was deducted.
I think its bullshit too, but yeah. No joke.

Weird looking face you got there

Cups aren't imperial...cups are cups. Just another arbitrary amount of volume.

Metric is better in every day lives too....spend a few months buying your stuff in metric measures and you get a feel for what you're going to get.

That said...I still measure everyone's height relative to Chewbacca.
