You're acting like this country hasn't had to handle a corrupted government system before.

we have, but we have never removed the problem i.e the electoral college. excluding a few elections that had more than 2 candidates win any states we've always had no more than two parties. sometimes one would fall to be replaced by another or the internal structure of a party would change that it is a new party with the same name. could that happen in the future? maybe, but it would eventually settle back to two parties like it always has.

If more people vote 3rd party, then eventually we won't just have a dual party system where you have to vote between two shitty people to run the country. If that creates a scenario where no one wins, then we need to remove what's causing that situation. As you put it, it's the electoral college, right? That shit no one really likes as a system anymore anyway? Fucking great! Do that then.
#221 - noschool (07/26/2016) [-]
i mean i agree with you that the electoral collage is garbage but the way i see it we are in a catch 22 currently neither party would want to remove the system because it helps maintain the two party system. Attacking it from below by having different representatives is a good idea in theory but because the districts are gerrymandered to hell and also because both parties cover a brad spectrum representatives of districts can appeal to the areas political beliefs i.e the correct republican candidate can easily appeal to a religious district or a democratic candidate can appeal to a minority group that feels disenfranchised. Both parties are basically the Walmart of politics, so it is hard for smaller parties to get a foothold in most district.

you said the feeling of inevitability would go away if more people voted 3rd party, i was saying that won't happen because we'd end up with no winner and the house would choose between the two inevitability. voting for 3rd party won't solve that problem.

Students should be working. I worked my way through college, so should they. When they graduate, they'll piss and moan about their debt, and all I have to say is "Shouldn't have gone to college if you couldn't afford it"

You realize this guy is probably trolling you noschool? Because if he isn't he is truly dumb as hell.
#155 - noschool (07/26/2016) [-]
you aren't addressing the main point i made, one students don't live on welfare and two defaulting on a student loan murderers your credit so they aren't getting away with anything. so your belief on whether people should work through collage is irrelevant. if you get a job after collage you'll easily be able to pay off your debt, and according to you anyone why tries hard enough can easily get a job. taking out a loan isn't the end of the world, people do it all the time to buy a house or a car.

so i'll say again "Who would look for work when you can make $20 an hour on welfare?"

almost the entire country.
