Because if they did guess which group wouldn't have shown up? The Black Panthers. They rose in prominence because, surprise-surprise white people didn't keep the peace so they had to come around and go back to using Malcolm X's idea of violence over peace because that seems to be the only way you lot get it.
Also quit acting like "I Have A Dream" is MLK's only fucking speech. I'm getting so sick and fucking tired of you fucks trying to quote that shit acting like that's the only thing he's said in terms of equality.
Shit he wasn't killed until he started talking about the economic equality of black people. Them getting the right pay they deserve for the same work as white people. Sounds fair right? Guess not, because that's what got his brains splattered all over the floor.
“I think it is absolutely necessary now to deal massively and militantly with the economic problem.” — MLK, 10 days before assassination
I Have A Dream was back in 1963, MLK kept having speeches and talking because racists still gonna be racists, here or some quotes from some of those speeches that conveniently go unheard of.
“White America has allowed itself to be indifferent to race prejudice.” — MLK (1968)
“I am sorry to have to say that the vast majority of white Americans are racists, either consciously or unconsciously.” — MLK (1967)
½: “The doctrine of white supremacy was imbedded in every textbook and preached in practically every pulpit…” – MLK
2/2: “… It became a structural part of the culture.” —Martin Luther King Jr. on white supremacy (1967)
“The great majority of Americans… are uneasy with injustice but unwilling yet to pay a significant price to eradicate it.” — MLK
“There aren’t enough white persons in our country who are willing to cherish democratic principles over privilege.” — MLK
“Three hundred years of humiliation, abuse and deprivation cannot be expected to find voice in a whisper.” — MLK
“Riots are not the causes of white resistance, they are consequences of it.” — MLK (1967)
Martin Luther King didn't really condone violence, but his attitude was more, to put it simply: "Hey if they aren't listening when we're being peaceful...whatever happens, happens. Learn from it. So it doesn't have to happen again."
As you can see, White America(ns) refuse to learn.
I'm positive that MLK is rolling in his grave each time somebody tries to quote his "I Have A Dream" speech like it's the only thing he's said even though he has said many things that must be done until there is true equality. I wouldn't be surprised if he's up in heaven regretting he ever made that speech because of people like you.

I don't get why you think I only realize that was his only speech on equality... the dude was all about it. I love history to death, so don't pull that crap on me. Also some of his stuff isn't nearly as radical as some of the other black leaders, despite some of the quotes you put down that show the disappointment with white America. Times were different back then you know. "Those who live in the past are doomed to be ruled by it." Notice a lot of social movements try to promote the ideals of "moving forward" generally towards brighter futures. That requires actually moving forward.
Plenty of other "peaceful" leaders (even some who weren't black, shocker shocker), MLK is just the most prominent and well known. That's why people use him, don't get in a fit about it.
I feel he's more or less more upset with people who seem to have completely lost his vision...
And between the both of us, it's not me who let him down.
I'll still give you a thumb, I feel like you have good intention...it's hard to show any consideration for a side you're not on. That's what I'm going to assume is causing your bitterness. Change doesn't come when both sides hold onto anger and bitterness. And if you respond to that in the way I think you might, I'll show you exactly how uneducated a biased side can be.

I generally say this to myself. The less you care about how people look. And the more you just don't think about it. The less of a issue it becomes. Sure i agree there are those that really mean it when they say something along the lines of ''but x are degenerates and are not humans'' those people are a problem. But otherwise words are words you choose how to understand and how it effects you. Its only truely racist if someone means what they say if they have the belief of being better then you because of skin color or whatever it may be.

i entirely agree with ninjabadger here, almost every single black person i've ever met was incredibly racist. their number one go to solution for any problem was to claim "racism". which is complete bullshit.
they treat the term like its a magic word that will instantly solve any problem. and our society being the way it is immediately panders to them. beat some kid half to death and steal all his money and clothes? -- "he called me a nigger" rob a store at gun point? --"i tried gettin a job but fuckin whitey won't hire me"
it needs to change, we should not bow down to someone so clearly in the wrong. as long as they have the crutch called racism.

My people were oppressed in colonial America as well, and were treated far worse than most African slaves (and before Africans really hit the scene in America). Yet we won't complain about it. Hell our people were continuously treated like shit for a long time before and after the advent of America.
A level of melanin in one's skin should not entitle a person to be given more or less privileges and protections. That's not equality. That's not justice. That's not American.
Injustices of the past cannot be reversed, but the future can be improved. All it takes is some faith and trust.
