Yes, his rant is about talking loudly
Specifically talking loudly when someone else is trying to say something
In fact, that's the very first thing he even says in the video

It's called the freedom of speech
Not the right to be listened to
They can talk all they want
I don't have to listen

I'm not talking about SJW's like they are a group
I'm talking about SJW as a mentality
The idea that your ideas are so star sparkled awesome that disagreeing is sacrilege.
Which is exactly the mindset he is talking about.

And you seem to have misunderstood something about freedom of speech
I am in absolutely no way supposed, or obligated, to listen to, understand, respect, or learn from them or their point of view, and dismissing it purely out of hand is perfectly fine
As long as I don't try to take away their voice.

They are trying to take away the voices of those who disagree
And that shit does not fly

And I do understand their opinions, it's summed up by equity

What? Nobody's trying to take the voices away from anybody lmao. Do you think his entire rant was about people talking loudly?
By dismissing people's opinions, by dismissing people because of certain mindsets, you are taking away their voice. Painting opposing parties as being inherently wrong and laughable is basically another form of propaganda.
I understand freedom of speech perfectly fine. I'm not saying everybody's obligated to respect and listen to the opinions of others. But if you want to not only believe your own opinions, but to also discuss and openly disagree with other opinions, you need to listen to the people who have them, and hear what they have to say about whatever it is you're talking about; otherwise you're the same kind of person the man in this video is describing.

You refer to 'SJWs' as a group as if they're some structured political party lmao. And the way you people throw around the term "SJW" as if it's a set of beliefs that are inherently uncredible and moronic, which is exactly the kind of shit that the guy in this video says is wrong. You can't chalk up an entire set of beliefs and by this I mean sets of beliefs as broad and undefined as "SJW" beliefs. to be moronic. The majority of people on this site don't know that much about feminism, despite being so adamantly against it. If you hear somebody considers themselves a feminist, you all immediately assume they're an idiot, which is the kind of shit the guy in this video is saying you shouldn't do.
Any time feminism or any other form of social justice is mentioned on this site, you all go into a frenzy as if they're the worst group of people on the internet, despite the fact that the only posts about SJWs on this site are screenshots of the dumb/extremist SJWs, that most people on tumblr don't even take seriously.
You all talk about social justice and feminism as if it has no merit as a point of view whatsoever, yet you all hoot and holler in agreement as this guy goes "Listen to their argument! Learn what they have to say! Respect their point of view! Listen to their facts!", but the only reason you agree is because he directed his rant at the same people that you dislike and know little about .

tl;dr
You can't agree with someone when they say "listen to other people's points of view", and then refer to and paint everybody with certain beliefs as being objectively incorrect and not worth listening to

You could exchange left wing for right wing, or just extremist, but the current problem is that it's going on in the left wing.
User avatar
#224 - nightmaren (04/10/2015) [-]
It's going on everywhere. I guess my point is, is that his main point in this rant is that "you should listen to other people's points of view and not try to silence them" which is obviously important, and a good message, but he uses terms like "liberal" and "progressive" and "left-wing", as if it's only liberals who are doing this, which is not even remotely true. Every group has people who do this.
In this video he paints all young left-wingers as these loud mouthed, intolerant cry-babies, as if they're the only ones not listening to other opinions, and in doing so, he's nullifying his own original message, making himself a hypocrite.
You can't make a video about tolerance for other points of views, and listening to other opinions, while simultaneously making it out to sound like it's only your opposing group that does it, when that's blatantly untrue. You can't go on a rant about not being closed minded while being closed minded and expect to be taken seriously.

Some jobs, including cook, dont require a degree.
I respect cooks, i've been to culinairy school, but you can learn a lot on your own.

You NEED to know how to handle chemicals and the >100.000 dollar equipment in a lab.

A phone has auto focus and that shit.

Without chemists to create and produce medicine, check purity of drinkingwater, to tests in hospitals, do their jobs in the production of food, fuel, cleaning products, production of inorganic materials etc, etc etc. Civilization as we know it will cease to exist.

If all the photgraphers would suddenly dissapear commercials will look unproffesional and movies will look cheaply made. But thats it. The world keeps spinning without them.

But besides all that. Is photography an easy degree? Compared to other bachelor degree's, YES.

I know photography is more than just aiming a camera and clicking a button, but compared to chemistry its easy.

You need a degree in chemistry to work in a lab. I can take a pic with my phone without any kind of degree.
User avatar
#508 - nightmaren (04/09/2015) [-]
And your argument is what exactly? Because what you're saying sounds, to me, like if I were to say "lmao who needs a fucking degree in chemistry when you can just put a mento in a coke bottle and make it explode"
There's a huge fucking difference between taking a picture on your phone and taking a professional picture. You need a degree in photography to work for a photography studio as well. Professional actors can't just take a selfie on their phone and bring it to their auditions as their headshots. You need to hire a professional photographer, as they have extensive knowledge on lighting, angles, focusing, and way more.
I know how to cook ramen and make sandwiches, that doesn't mean culinary school is useless.
