Picked up this little guy last night. I was slightly apprehensive about using a direct-heat cooker as opposed to the steamer which I've always used in the past, but I have to admit, this thing actually cooks an excellent pot of rice, without scorching, and in less than half the time of the old steamer.

Or you could eat it all raw and drink lots of water!

and that's the reason they say you can't throw raw rice at weddings, birds eat them then drink water and supposedly go pop shortly after, that's why i encourage people to throw white rocks at the married couple while telling them whats the worst that can happen.

I think you're a cool-headed and educated person.
There world needs more people like you.
User avatar #19 to #17 - mylittlesentry (11/07/2013) [-]
Why, thank you.

Sometimes, the only thing you can do in the face of extreme idiocy is to just have a good chuckle and hammer out a nice, coherent response in order best to accentuate the obvious failings of whatever educational system the antagonist in question is a product of.

Or, don't complain that the turkey is dry, just pick it up and immerse the whole damn thing in a 5 gallon bucket of gravy.

(I'm assuming that Costco sells five gallon buckets of gravy, though I will admit that I have never actually been inside of one. I have also never been inside a Costco.)
User avatar #20 to #19 - tdogmeds (11/07/2013) [-]
I like reading what you say.
You should just tag me whenever you say things from now on.

Also, Costco is a little overwhelming. It's huge.
Worth a single trip, just for ***** and gigs, but it isn't my main store.

Would you be interested in being a mod?
User avatar #15 to #14 - mylittlesentry (07/17/2013) [-]
To be honest, only if I have some kind of reason to believe that I'd not be walking into the middle of an emotional / political ********* .

Also, maybe you can clarify something for me that I've never been quite straight on. Who is actually "in charge" of the Barrel? I know that it's bronyHero's profile, but he seems to take a somewhat lassie-faire approach to running the place. I really don't know exactly who the key players are, and I'd need to be in possession of that information to really make an informed decision.
User avatar #16 to #15 - superjman (07/17/2013) [-]
Well bronyhero is an account that we have that all three of the current mods have access to. It's not an actual user. The three mods are myself, Dash, and Kagji. We're just trying to add more mods so we have more room for discussion and voting. The trouble yesterday was caused by an argument over unfair voting so we decided to add 2 more mods so it is a bit more fair.
#5 to #2 - dashgamer (05/17/2013) [-]
Here they are.
Also, yes. YES. I consent to this decision, Kagji, without hesitation.
#4 to #2 - iamkagji (05/17/2013) [-]
**** , forgot the rules...
User avatar #3 to #2 - iamkagji (05/17/2013) [-]
Awesome. Here's the rules. If you agree to them, dashgamer or txsslg will be along shortly to have a chat with you, then we can get you added.
User avatar #6 to #3 - mylittlesentry (05/18/2013) [-]
Haha. Now that’s an excellent presentation of the rules. (The Rainbow Dash version.)

In all seriousness, before I say "yes," I would ask for your honest and carefully considered opinion in the matters of “humanized or overly gory pictures” and “political / religious discussions” in the context of certain of the works which I have previously uploaded here, such as “Lost Ark of the Changelings” and “Celestia’s List,” (links below), and specifically with regard to the commentary and analysis which accompanies them, much of which is in the comments rather than the main description.

While much of my work is fairly light-hearted pop culture stuff, I do from time to time enjoy delving into some of the deeper historical / mythological issues which are alluded to within the show, and the above-referenced works are broadly representative of this. In Celestia's List, for instance, I am obviously depicting the deposed Princess in literal human form, using a screencap taken from a film in which the character with whom I have transposed her was a member of the Nazi party during WWII, while at the same time implying the death of Applebloom.

None of this is exactly "gory" per se, but it is to some extent political and religious in nature, and is deliberately meant to be disturbing on some level. (As I explained in the comments, I was in a really dark place when I created that one, and the only way out of it seemed to be confronting the idea head-on. Completing and uploading it was a form of catharsis for me.)

My intent in doing pieces such as this is not to shock, but to arouse serious thought and analysis on the part of the reader. However, I’m also aware that topics such as these can be inherently controversial, and might easily be considered to be offensive or even blasphemous by some.

In other words, although I have no intention whatsoever of creating the next Cupcakes / Sweet Apple Massacre, I want to be completely honest and forthright with you in that the very thing which most seriously draws me to this story and community is that there is so much more to explore within it than just Flufflepuff and party cannons, and not all of it is pink and lovely.

(Not that I don’t enjoy a bit of Flufflepuff from time to time. To everything, there is a season.)

My assumption is that these rules are meant principally to address more mundane issues such as flame wars and outright porn, but at the same time I don’t want to be responsible for inadvertently sparking off a forum war, or even just making an ass of myself. (I deal with more than enough of that crap as a moderator of an automotive-related forum which seems to attract more than its fair share of children who have no concept of civil discourse.)

Aside from this concern, I have no problems whatsoever with the rules.
User avatar #8 to #6 - dashgamer (05/18/2013) [-]
The concept we're trying to avoid is that of sexualized, provocative pictures and blatantly stupid remarks related to politics or religion or anything controversial that purposefully invoke a negative or irate response. Your content has done none of those things, in my opinion, and we always welcome civil, coherent debate.
User avatar #11 to #8 - mylittlesentry (05/18/2013) [-]
Ok, it sounds like we're all on the same page. I just wanted to be certain. (This being the internet and all, it's often difficult to infer what others consider to be the boundaries of good taste.)

I think it's safe to say that your rules are ok by me.
User avatar #13 to #11 - dashgamer (05/18/2013) [-]
Well, we wouldn't have invited you if we anticipated you'd have an issue. =D Welcome aboard.
#7 to #6 - iamkagji (05/18/2013) [-]
Nah, when we say "keep them to a minimum," we mean "nothing inflamitory, and only if it comes up in conversation necessary." If you start something, that's the only time we'll have a problem. As for gore, nothing worse than this picture, and only in proper situations. We frequently converse about adult and controversial subjects, we just want to keep overtly sexual and tastelessly grotesque pictures off of the board and prevent ********** .
User avatar #9 to #7 - mylittlesentry (05/18/2013) [-]
I'm not even going to ask what's going on with Discord and Twilight there, but I think it's safe to say that it's pretty far beyond anything I'll be creating. My interests are much more of a philosophical / metaphorical nature. So I don't think we have anything to worry about.

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but the vocabulary of the imagination is boundless.
User avatar #10 to #9 - iamkagji (05/18/2013) [-]
So you're in?
