Aight, I've test ran this for a while now and it's doing fine. I put the CPU back to stock speeds just to be on the safe side, but temps are good.

Right now I'm heavily leaning towards selling my 980's (albeit probably difficult as fuck to find someone who would buy those with waterblocks now) and sticking with this 970 for a while.

The 290X in itself is somewhat of a dodgy card. But yeah, those noname cheapo brands aren't helping the cause either.

Sometimes it does pay off to get the bigger brands like Asus, EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte, Sapphire, XFX, etc.

From the looks of it AMD in general have high failure rates www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Video-Card-Failure-Rates-by-Generation-563/
having it from such a brand as PowerColour probably does not help.

This is the second card I've bought from powercolor. I bought a 290 that I flashed to a 290x around when they first came out and haven't had a single problem with it. I guess my luck ran out
