True to an extent. Jesus is pretty specific at Matthew 5:17 that he is the fulfillment of the law, not the end of it. Meaning though we are not bound by the law, it still has principles to be followed (like not associating closely/marrying those who are of a different faith and the importance of not mixing true and false worship. This is the gist of the parts about not sowing two kinds of seed in a field, or wearing a garment made of two kinds of thread).

Zenith, it's Romans 2:14-16. Rakaka, Fefe was incorrect. Here is your citation.

"Fulfillment" is essentially saying we are no longer bound by it so no, we don't need to follow its principles. The Old Testament is very important in understanding the history of the Israelites and everything that led up to Jesus, as well as the character of God, but it isn't our rulebook. As for marrying those who aren't Christians, it is in fact specifically permitted:

"For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy." 1 Corinthians 7:14.

Jesus said he has come not to abolish the law but o uphold it.

Matthew 5:17: Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18"For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

So according to that the old laws were not abolished at all. No bacon for Christians then...

Romans 14:14 - I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.

Acts 10:9-16 - 9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

16 This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

The Old Testament says that god is unchanging, yet here he is changing what is clean and unclean.

Malachi 3:6 : For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

Just because God changes his rules doesn't mean that his character changes. Come on, this is basic logic. git gud

So what about his 'character' when he commands rape, slavery and genocide?
#74 - lmh (04/28/2015) [-]
Because he can not stop suffering without stopping free will itself.

We'll start with this one.

Judges 21:10-24

It was the other tribes of Israel that commanded the tribe of Benjamin to do this in order to survive.

"How can we find wives for the few who remain, since all the women of the tribe of Benjamin are dead? There must be heirs for the survivors so that an entire tribe of Israel will not be lost forever. But we cannot give them our own daughters in marriage because we have sworn with a solemn oath that anyone who does this will fall under God's curse."

God will curse them if they don't so as he commands.
#106 - lmh (04/29/2015) [-]
The tribe of Benjamin lost most of their number rebelling against god. the other tribes were therefore forbidden to give their own daughters as wives to Benjamin.
God did not say anything else in that case. Don't think God could kill to many more, he needed the chosen people alive for his plan.

You do realize that there is no evidence that this god exists, right?
#108 - lmh (04/29/2015) [-]
I kind of did realize you thought so.
Is there any evidence that god did not exist?

If you claim that something exists you have the burden of proof. You can't prove a negative.
