There's a lot of idiots on this site, just try to ignore them.

I get where you're coming form, but most anti-smoking campaigns focus on the health deterioration caused by smoking. of course everyone dies. this is a fact of life. The thing is, in general, people who smoke frequently die sooner than they should.

I know that technically, we should just leave everybody alone and let them live their life how they want. But it's not so simple. Yes, there are those who bash smokers just to make themselves feel good, but some people have lost loved ones to smoking-related deaths and simply want to spread awareness of that. Then you've got the anti-second-hand-smoke campaigns, which are a totally different story.

mmmm maybe so, i dont like the idea of getting THAT old either, but yet i don't see any and i mean ANY good reason to even start smoking. but okay, i think we can stop argueing after your next comment.

Well starting smoking is the great mystery, because you have to work at it before you enjoy it, let alone become addicted. I personally started out smoking too many joints at university, and kinda got hooked by the tobacco part.

However, dear sir, I do believe we have had an amicable disagreement on the internet - a rare thing these days.

you say ''non smokers die every day''. you don't mention causes of death of people that do not smoke. smokers don't only die from smoking. most deaths occur because of accidents etc etc. so by saying ''non smokers die every day'' you just ignore the fact that, looking at %, smokers die sooner than non-smokers, which is caused by (obviously) smoking.
User avatar #388 - monkeyslut (12/12/2011) [-]
you seem oblivious to the fact that death is a pretty standardised thing, and the end result is that the person is dead. There are not varying degrees of dead. It's just that non-smokers die having never enjoyed a cigarette.

I would rather die of a smoking related illness (heart attack/stroke/cancer) at an age early enough so that people would say I died 'early'. The idea of being healthy, then getting old and finding that I can no longer do the things that make me happy, then my friends dying before me, then being cold, alone and shitting myself regularly, does not appeal to me.

And smokers die faster. What's your point?
User avatar #497 - monkeyslut (12/12/2011) [-]
The point is that anti-smokers seem to operate under the belief that they will never die.

'if you smoke, you'll die'

'oh really!? what a shame that I have thrown my inherent immortality away.'

It also says a lot that a Bill Hicks joke gets thumbed down on here. Further proof that Funnyjunk is infested by good, clean, children, who abide by the rules and suckle upon Satan's thorny PENIS.
