How does it compare to 13

I'd be pretty biased probably, seeing how I'm one of the few people that actually did enjoy the XIII trilogy.

The early game is VERY much open world. You get to explore a huge part of the game world up to a certain point that's unlocked a few hours into the game, depending on how hard you're rushing through. It took me about 6hrs to proceed to the next area, basically.
The leveling is pretty interesting. You have a sphere grid like ability tree that's divided into different trees (like exploration, recovery, combat...), and the regular levels. You gain XP by fighting, but those points are stored in a pool and won't be received until a) you slept or b) a chapter's ended.
You have a pretty free hand in the game, actually, up until chapter 7 or 8, when the game starts to get pretty linear for the rest (up from then it's only about 10hrs or so left, anyway. At least for me, but I took my time exploring every corner of the world).

The combat apparently is extremely different from previous entries. It isn't outstanding, but it isn't bad either. It's really enjoyable, but lacks depth imo. There are blindside, link and counter attacks additionally to the regular "button mashing", but that's about it. You can also vary combos with the analog stick, but it's just a different animation, essentially.

FFXV is basically the exact opposite of 13 when it comes to linearity.
Huge, vast open world game in the first half, tube levels in the last quarter, and the part inbetween is a mixed bag of both.

The thing that doesn't make it GOTY is that you can't listen to stand by me in the car

You know in the beginning where there was a little bit of gameplay with lots of fire and stuff? There. If you missed it, you're out of luck.

I realize this is America, but where I live, it's illegal to sell energy drinks to minors.
#73 - dirtypizza (11/16/2016) [-]
Yeah it's crazy in some parts. I remember when I was six months old I crawled to the store to buy one and no one said shit.

Dont let the other replys fool or confuse you. Anyone of any age can by energy drinks provided they dont have alchohol in them. We had a short period when that was popular. Of course knowing the effects of caffine and alchohol its pretty clear the two didnt mix. So companies stopped.
#57 - anon (11/16/2016) [-]
it's 100% legal here in the US, with a few exceptions where the cans will usually be labelled with a warning saying "must be 18 or older to buy"
#50 - anon (11/16/2016) [-]
I live in Connecticut in the US, and it's been really weird with that here.
When I was 12-13, I was buying energy drinks no problem, they actually even sold them on icecream trucks. Then a couple years after that, I tried buying one, and they wanted ID and said you had to be 18 to buy them, but within a few months after that I bought one again no problem, and I think now it's the same where you can just buy them no matter what age. They've been really back and forth with it, but I'm also pretty sure it varies from state to state.

The amount of work they put into animating that tongue and the attempt to make the tongue as realistic as possible is astounding.
