I'm not saying people should be killed for commiting random crimes, but no one's ever points the blame at the victim. Different cases have varied but in the end it comes down to . don't break the law, listen to the police officer, and no one has to die. You can debate how an officer decided to handle a situation but In the end there has to be an action to cause a reaction. If you run or try to fight cops you are going to have a bad day and you accept the consequences. You may not agree with police but this riot shows how a certain percentage of people would act of these was no law enforcement.

On a handful of occasions I have stopped by police and questioned.

I was respectful and made sure to explain myself well.

They let me go and nothing bad happened

I do not doubt that sir, I'm not sure what you're getting at, but I accept your story as true.

Although I did nothing wrong I chose not to flex and give the cops any reason to do anything to me.

Do you honestly think cops just drive around looking for African Americans minding their own business and trying to arrest them?
#51 - hotpiss (04/29/2015) [-]
Nope, never even implied it.

If you break the law, and don't listen to the police officer, do you deserve to die?
#68 - Rascal (04/29/2015) [-]
No, hes saying if you break the law, and are not compliant with the police, anything that happens after that is your own wrong doing.

Yeah, because Freddie Gray sustained injuries comparable to a horrific automobile accident because the police didn't buckle him up in their van.

okay so I agree with what you're saying, he did not deserve it but he had it coming with a record like this right? it was only a matter of time until it would go wrong one way or another and the dindu protesters should just fuck off and find some actual racism to protest against instead of crying over drug dealing scum

the guy who had a heart attack/stroke and didn't get helped, he deserved the protests but this guy just really had it coming, as sad as it is
#91 - tanstin (04/29/2015) [-]
Heres a little fact you have to know before saying this. Freddie Gray actually was in a car accident before he was killed. He was hospitalized for multiple fractures to his SPINE, and less than a week after being discharged he began selling narcotics again. When he was restrained by the officers he put up struggle and escaped, only to be caught again, he continued to struggle instead of comply which forced the officers to apply more pressure and break his already messed up spine

#Just Ice for Freddy
#69 - Rascal (04/29/2015) [-]
If he dindu nuffin he wouldn't have died.

Not saying it's okay that he was just flat out killed, but this guy's probably ruined a lot of lives with the drugs he's sold. It's a dangerous profession. If he didn't get killed by a cop, he'd probably be killed by a drug deal gone wrong and not a single soul would care. Happens all the time, and it's a damn shame that people don't see how much people like this guy break the neighborhood apart, and instead paint him as some kind of saint for the black community.

I think what he was trying to say which is something I agree with is that he is a criminal, and the charges for his criminal acts don't include death.

He should probably have been arrested, but not killed.

I also agree with the point you're inherently trying to make through your sarcasm , which is that the people shouldn't be rioting. The riots will not only solve nothing, but they will hurt honest small business owners and they put the whole city in distress. It's not fair to everyone else involved.

#25 - Rascal (04/29/2015) [-]
Legally, yes, but we do not yet know the full story, yet again, because every time some criminal has something bad happen to him we have an outburst of violence and destruction for no good fucking reason. This happened with Mike Brown, it's happening again. People are defending him because he 'didn't deserve' what he got when they had no idea what the fuck happened to him. It'll probably come out again, that this retard had done something like assault a cop and attempt an escape. If the cops of Ferguson, racist as they are, didn't do anything wrong what makes you think Baltimore police did anything wrong?

I believe this is karma in action and he got what was coming to him. This isn't just a drug user we're talking about or some kid pressed into gang violence. He was arrested nearly a dozen times for distributing narcotics. He was not only breaking the law to make a profit he was doing it on the backs of addicts, hurting people of his community. Nobody should feel pity for him. Nobody should be burning the streets they live on because of him.
#22 - jakatackka (04/29/2015) [-]
FJ is really fucking racist, and incidents like this cause it to rise up form the cracks.

Let's sum this up:

* Lawfully arrested black man is wrongly allowed to die in police custody
* Man has funeral, which is followed by large, peaceful protests
* A handful of shit mongrels decide to use this as an excuse to riot and destroy shit

Yep, this is clearly a case of racial tensions and not a group of shitty people using whatever excuse they can to be shitty people.
User avatar #58 - voltkills (04/29/2015) [-]
>handful
dude there is alot of them, and its not like its an isolated incident, there have been riots all over the country, every-time a black man is killed by police, there are fucking riots now, you cannot pretend this isnt a case a deep racial tensions, many black think the police are all racist and many whites think all blacks are criminals, there is a massive problem with race in the US, this is it showing itself.
#12 - sloot (04/29/2015) [-]
your logic is flawed. You cannot say people on death row deserve death but accidental deaths during a committed crime are unacceptable. You either accept the morality of the situation or decline it. You can't cherry pick from both sides of the argument.
#39 - hotpiss (04/29/2015) [-]
what is this nonsensical argument? So, if you accept the death penalty is right, you must also accept that it's ok if people die in police custody?
#43 - sloot (04/29/2015) [-]
If you agree someone who has committed a crime (any crime) is to be held accountable for said actions then you must accept the occasional missfortune of death in apprehending someone who has committed a crime.

If we ignore these few instances of questionable decision making or hate crimes committed by police officers, let's consider a more realistic view.

A police officer is performing a job benefiting society (for the most part). A criminal is commuting an act degrading society.

Would it be worse for society if a criminal were killed by a police officer, or would it be worse for society of a police officer were killed by a criminal?

If convicted for whatever crime the criminal committed at the time he/she will now forever be on social programs because no respectable company (rightly) will hire felons.

So if you look at this logically instead of emotionally maybe you could begin to understand my position.
#78 - Rascal (04/29/2015) [-]
Should the officers not be held to the same standard of being held accountable for their actions?

The offender put him self in a bad situation, but once the police had the situation under their control they made choices and took actions that led to the offenders death. The officers should be investigated and punished for excessive use of force or any other actions the contributed to his death AFTER he was put in the van.
User avatar #13 - mffinmanu (04/29/2015) [-]
How is my logic flawed? people on death row are convicted of a crime that has been deemed punishable by death in the eyes of the law. We can argue the merits of capital punishment but it is a different argument entirely.

Deaths due to excessive force or negligence on the part of law enforcement is unacceptable. These two issues are separate.
#33 - sloot (04/29/2015) [-]

Why does everyone use that picture invalidly.
That's a point the majority of us share, there should be actions taken against that police department and certainly against the ones who killed him.

That doesn't give the green light for the city to vandalize people's businesses and homes who have nothing to do with the situation.
