i know what he is doing and trying to do, but is heathcare really so bad?
did he start the NSA spying programs? when he leave the capitol for the next president, you guys will rage on the new one, and must likely, about the same problem -.-

Note how I said continued NSA spying programs. Not start. Healthcare is a shit idea. Country is in debt, so lets raise taxes and pay for everyone's healthcare. He's a shit president like most of them. Just because we will say the new one sucks, doesn't change the fact that Obama isn't a good president. Blind luck we haven't gotten in any more wars... yet.
#224 - xxmemosxx (04/07/2014) [-]
Healthcare isn't bad but he's applied it so poorly and basically made it mandatory health insurance instead of just including it as a tax money

yeah he should have done it diffrent, but a change is a change and he or the president after him can change it later

You can attempt to ignore arguments by labeling them however you wish; it doesn't change the concrete nature of the arguments themselves, nor does it affect their relevance. It's a bit like saying that social security systems are bad because they resemble Communist ideas. It doesn't change the substance of the subject; all it does is attach an otherwise meaningless yet emotionally-charged word to it. This is also known as an "ad hominem" fallacy.

Second, your argument regarding your cat hinges on the (unfounded) assumption that something other than our intelligence separates us from other animals; that is to say, that there is some type of "essence" beyond our intellectual abilities that makes us special. There is no evidence to support this theory. With this in mind, your proposition that homosexuality in humans is "wrong" simply because of the way the human reproductive cycle works does not hold water: other species can only reproduce through heterosexual sex, and yet they exhibit homosexual behaviour.

With all of this in mind, we come to a single logical conclusion: there is nothing abnormal about homosexual behaviour or drives exhibited in humans. We are not special compared to animals, and homosexual behaviour does not have a damaging effect on our species's chances of survival in any way. Unless homosexuality was found to have a detrimental effect on the species as a whole (protip: it hasn't), homosexual/bisexual/heterosexual behaviour can all be considered to be typical of homo sapiens sapiens.

If other species can do it without going extinct, we can do it without going extinct. It's really that simple.

Holy shit, this is a dumb fucking website on the internet. Stop writing college essay's to someone who doesn't give a fuck. I ignore arguments when no source is presented. And we aren't special compared to animals? I think building a fucking fucking space station is pretty fucking special. You're not as smart as you really want to appear. Continue preaching to someone who doesn't care what you're saying. You can defend wanting that dick in your ass all day, you're still trying to pump up your internet dick.

You're assuming, of course, that sexual activity has no influence or importance in a multi-organism social structure.

Humans are social animals. We live in groups ranging from small tribal bands to huge multilayered civilizations. Sex is a way to form ties, relieve stress, and generally relate to others when all else fails. Sex has more than a reproductive function; it also has significance on a basic sociological level. Look at all of the species listed above; all of them demonstrate arguably intricate social structures wherein sex plays a key role in socialization as well as reproduction.

Why are we so special that it may not do the same - in all its forms - in our own societies?

See, my point. Fucking preachy. I don't care. You can blast me with all your pseudo-intellectualism you want, but I just don't give a fuck. It's my opinion, and I'm holding to it. Trying to convince people of your opinion on the internet is like telling a red wall to paint itself black. Also, you're comparing things that aren't human to things that are. Why can't my cat join my social structure and get a job, and pay taxes? Because it's a fucking cat, and I'm a human.

Not everything is unoriginal, OC is widely accepted and smiled upon while reposts are still popular do to more and more people discovering different stuff daily; old or new.
And most of the offensive stuff nowadays is really just bait and people looking for that negative response, not typically legitimate opinions being flamed to -100 or so. Sure, there are opinions that get thumbed down but that's just a way of showing general agreement or disagreement and not just hive "Thumb down because they did" situations.

And to use a different website I would have to familiarize myself with another layout, community, friends, posting pattern, ect. Most of our frontpage material is the same stuff you would see on any other site a day before or a day after (depending on which) so the only main difference would maybe be the comments.

I just thought I'd mention that I'm surprised the whole "America muh freedoms" thing was still going on without being ridiculed like most continuing trends on this site.
Sorry for all the reading.

Not really my point.
I mentioned that because stuff like memes got ran into the ground to the point where they became cancerous and only used in irony and that is slowly what these patriotism comments - and my post - were about.

I didn't really intend for everyone to get it though, I just felt like I needed to say something whether or not people agree or disagree with it.

Patriotism comments about the only funny things posted on American post. There is only so much LOL *insert country is better than America here* comments I can take before it get equally as annoying. If you want originality go someplace else, this site has clearly ran out. Anything too offensive gets flamed because of peoples feelings, but that's become the norm for most websites now a days. I guess it all depends on what you find funny.
