He didn't know you either. Seriously though, I'm sorry.

I know that's terrible and I'm sorry to hear that but think of it this way, isn't it better that you never knew him when he was all there instead of seeing his sanity and memories start to deteriorate more and more over time?

Same thing with my grandpa, "Taps" was played at his funeral and that is when it hit me.

Same. Alzheimer's, Taps, funeral. I didn't know him as well as I wanted to because my grandma is fucking crazy and I didn't associate them as different people until he got sick. He was a glorious man.

You should actually count yourself luckier than others. It would have been a more painful loss if you DID know him when he was healthy.

My grandpa lives on the same property as me so we can take care of him. I can't for the life of me remember what he was like before the stroke. Pretty saddening to think about. I feel like a piece of shit because I have to look at the shell of who he used to be and I'm pretty sure that's the only way I'll remember him.

Same with my gramps. I was too young to remember when he could stand on his legs.

My grandad died when my dad was 18, killed by a tired(sleepy) truckdriver.

I never knew my grandad, or any of his family, except ofc my dad.

I just started getting into meaningful engineering when I had my last conversation with my grandpa. He said, "when I get better, we'll go through some of this together."
