Forgive me if that's incorrect. I'm not trying to make a case for illegal immigrants.

So overall, raising minimum wage isn't the answer. Another question, wouldn't reducing illegal immigrants doing jobs for next to no cash have a similar effect? when companies are being forced to pay their workers more, I'd assume it'd act the same.

The cost of those products would go up, but illegal immigrants do jobs that can't ship somewhere else. They build houses and pick vegetables, and that sort of thing. You can't out source construction or farming. The construction will cost more, and small farms will combine into larger farms where it's economically pheasable to buy the machinery that the people were doing, so the cost of vegetables won't actually change. My thing is, there are people WILLING to do that work. The whole trope of "They do jobs you won't do" is exactly BS. The thing about them being paid a penny on the dollar of a citizen worker is also BS. They're paid less, but it's still more than minimum wage in most cases where they're doing manual labor. I've actually worked along side illegal immigrants and made the same money as them. It's not as bad as everyone seems to make it out to be.

Thank you, sir. That makes a lot of sense. So basically aside from fruit prices going up a bit, it's nothing but positive for the economy of the US.

It's not totally positive, constriction companies that could make lower bids are now going to have to make higher bids for the same job, so the price of a building will probably increase by several percentage points, but picking? Shit, $10 an hour was what everyone got paid. All cash, all at the end of the day. No questioning where you were from, or anything. Whoever showed up got paid. That's part of how I had extra money in high school.

In all I would say the net [bold][bold]benefit would be positive. There would be some industries that would have to increase their prices. But yeah. We're sitting on 5.5% unemployment right now. Add in the underemployed and the 'discouraged worker' rates and you're looking at about 12%. Now that's just stupid. Opening up entry level jobs is the best way to get those people full employment.

I'm not arguing Iran was/is great or even good, just saying that the US is rather douchey and has a history of this type of thing.
