What's wrong with being against open carry?
I see no need on a regular basis to carry around a firearm.
All it does is make you look suspicious and cause problems.
Also businesses tend to not let you inside.

Because it makes you an imbecile...?
It's not complex. You see the gun, you know who has a gun and who does not.

It is not an incentive for people with guns to carry their biggest, scurry gun.
People like you have probably never seen a gun, let alone know what a gun can do.

When's the last time a guy with an AR or a Calico showed up to a fucking robbery?

What is there even to argue against?

My problem is more or less that many places allow open carry to everyone, regardless of gun training or permits or whatever.

I own guns, I had to go through a gun safety course to own them, and it unsettles me to think that there are people out there with zero training who can walk around with heavy shit.

I feel like it's one of those things that causes problems but usually only for the person that is carrying. If there's a shooting they'll likely be made a suspect like that one guy after the Dallas shooting. Besides, most shooters sneak guns around before killing people. They don't usually open carry because it attracts too much attention beforehand.

open carry shouldn't be legal. you have the right to bear arms but that shouldn't mean you can carry a fucking rifle around in public like you're ready for a random gunfight to break out. concealed carry is fine. open is not. i don't care who disagrees.

But with open carry at least you know who has a gun as opposed to conceal carry

But . . . but . . . isn't open carry less sinister, as you can see plainly who is armed?

#128 - roonasaur (07/19/2016) [-]
So then, who cares if he open carries?

why do you need to carry around a rifle in public? are people REALLY that paranoid? do they just like to show off is it some kind of pride thing? i really can't understand why people think it's necessary.

Can you really not smell the stench of death that hangs upon this era?

HA, well . . . things are changing, is all I meant.

People yearn for something newer . . . something purer . . . more advanced, more capable . . . and they are willing to do many a great and not so great things to bring us into that future.

The present is dead . . . long live the present.

I oppose open carry for that reason, it does 2 negative things.
1. It shows a potential criminal who is armed and thus who should be dealt with first and takes away any element of surprise against an armed robber or whatever.
2. It makes people targets to be bashed in the back of the head and have their gun stolen and used for nefarious purposes.
posting as anon because wrong opinion
#126 - roonasaur (07/19/2016) [-]
Yeah . . .
1. Spotting a person open-carrying does not mean that there are no more "carriers" in the vicinity.
2. Of course there are always possibilities. But might not there be an equal number of bad incidents forestalled by showing a possible criminal that you are armed and may be more of a fight than bargained for?

Most crime is easy crime. Where they know they can be in and out before you even notice. Like seeing your front door left open, or your car unlocked. Seeing that a potential victim is armed, ups the ante, and discourages a significant number of lazy criminals.
. . . I know. I'm not so sure about just letting just anybody walk around with guns either. That's not what I want places to be like, even if they are all thoroughly vetted and carrying licenses. Apart from the spoiling effect on "nice" society, it would make it far too easy for someone to sneak in an arsenal to use Wrongly . . ."

People don't understand that Risk vs. Reward can be an easy stall for potential crime. This is why so much crime has been happening in areas which people are most likely unarmed, or simply "Gun-Free Zones" which are a new level of autism entirely.
