Ah that be a good point and bad. The constant invasions in any of the games meant lots of that same boss, mm?

Small chance you'd be summoned by the old monk.

But if you wanna force a summon, put a summon sign right below his fog gate.

Other wise, invasions will just end up regular Invasion's

One very interesting point of interest for me has been the bonfires. In dark souls 1, suckers were almost non existent, especially at the harder levels. it spread your estus flasks over a longer duration, and you ended up having to fight the boss with only 2 or 3. in dark souls 2, they were much more common, with most boss fights having a bonfire fairly close, even if it was secret. now in dark souls 3, every single boss has their own personally bonfire/shortcut. And while this may sound weird, I personally do miss the spread gaps of bonfires, maybe not as badly as dark souls 1, but bloodborne got a nice natural feel for bonfire placement, difficult but not ludicrous. I's funny, after I beat dark souls 1 with my endurance build (I forgot to add i deleted the character after I beat the game just for shits and giggles), I took it as a bit of a challenge, and I've now beat every single souls game with a character that had 10 or less endurance. It was horrible, and I don't recommend it.
#127 - lincolnpenis (08/11/2016) [-]
How the hell do you beat Manus with less than 10 endurance??
Bonfires were utterly artarded sometimes in DS1. The closest one to the Bed of Chaos meant a straight shot of nothing for like 10 minutes, guarded by a stupid ass titanite demon and those gay, fat fire breathing dragon golems only to have to die by some bad hit boxes and bad luck only to have to make the same run again. Silly.

I used manserpent greatsword and havel's greatshield. I did have a shit ton of health, so I just absorbed one hit and then stuck back. how it worked, I don't know, but it did haha.

it seems like he tried way too hard to play off of nostalgia that it ended up being a glorified dark souls 1 / demon's souls hybrid. like he tried to make everyone forget DS2 happened, considering how much of a ripoff animations and models in general were. maybe i'm just incredibly bitter that DS2 tried to innovate the souls formula, then DS3 comes right back along and brings things almost to Square One

The way Miyazaki talks about the current state of mechanics in DS3 makes me think he just stopped caring at some point ;'{

I think what many people forget when they say dark souls 2 was a bad game is that they are comparing it to dark souls 1 and 3. We all have to remember that as a standalone game, Dark souls 2 is probably one of the best games out there with it's mechanics, story and high attention to detail. The two problems that I had with Dark souls 2 (though still a blast), was very awkward level design (nothing really meshed well), and the entirety of the story being off place. Soulsborne games have always been very mysterious about the story, but I like to imagine somewhere Miyasaki has a notepad with the entire story laid out, and all we get are hints. Didn't get that vibe from dark souls 2. Still an amazing game though, as the rest of them are, and soulsborne will continue to be my all time favorite series.

I played dark souls first, gave up at lost izalith, and quit for 3 months. when dark souls 2 came out, i beat the game in 3 weeks, went back and deleted my horribly shitty build (unranked qualueeg fury sword and 10 endurance, how the hell did I even get that far?), and beat the game in a week. dark souls 2 is honestly the best starting point from a difficulty stand-point, and it's not actually that easy either. it's just because (and while this might be heresy), it felt like the first dark souls game relied to much on cheap and unfair tactics to get players to die. dark souls 2 refined this, bloodborne and dark souls 3 have held the highest standard for fair and tough boss fights for me personally.

Mm I have to agree with you, lost Izalith is a real fart palace for a lot of people. All the copy/pasted Capra Demons and Dragon asses and the god damn bed of chaos. I would've given up there, too. Yes 1 was definitely the cheekiest.

I just thought DS2 was better made, considering it was a B team title. It had all of the over the top weaponry, armour and difficulty of DS but seemed more approachable. It makes for the best first Souls game, I think. But that might be because it's the first one I played. Even before Demon Souls~
