I didn't say slavery wasn't an issue, but it wasn't entire reason. It was more of a catalyst, as the North was disregarding Congressional laws about returning escaped slaves, and the South basically got pissed at that. Leading up to the war there was also a surge of protective tarrifs enacted by the North that the entire South couldn't get rid of which was fucking them economically, combined with Lincoln getting elected without a single Southern district giving him the vote. This was the nail in the coffin, and the South realized that the North could do to the South whatsoever they pleased (including removing slavery)

"...They [the founding fathers] rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. It was a sandy foundation, and the government built upon it fell when the “storm came and the wind blew. Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth..." - Alexander Stephens. Vice president of the CSA The cornerstone speech March 21, 1861

Read the states' declarations of succession. Every single one we have lists slavery as a primary reason. Then read the Cornerstone speech by Alexander Stephens. Read some quotes about CSA national flags, particularly the second one designed by William T. Thompson. The civil was about slavery. There may have been other reasons, but its very clear that the CSA stood for white supremacy above all else.
