Or are you going to be an ass again? I can already tell that you're the type of person that makes fun of those who try and fix the problem so that they feel superior in some way.
Well, guess what? One day, you're going to die. Regardless of what you eat or what you do. You will die. Just like the rest of us. On that day, I hope you remember these words.
Eat shit you flaming bigot. With contempt - Scootabot.

I just think if anyone had enough time to side by side compare overweight "slow metabolism" people with "fit" people the differences would become clearer, the fit people would eat less than you think, you would eat more than you think, they would exercise harder/more than you think, you would exercise at a very basic pace (and so rarely adapt to change - since it isn't a real "stress").
I also think its fucking awful to mock people at the gym who are new/big - or even people just doing something to change it, but I'm ALWAYS met by upset/metabolism arguments but I ALWAYS find flaws, significant ones. A few snacks after evening meal, but not realising a big handful or two of peanuts is much more than 2-3 eggs in calories. High sugar snacks causing an insulin (an anabolic [growth] hormone] spike after a sensible meal. Going to the gym but being on an elliptical machine or bike at little above a walking pace wont ask the body to change / adapt (***Stress***/recover/adapt[/change]).
I have seen things that are difficult to explain, I've witnessed someone sticking to a meal plan and seen them walking out the gym red faced three times in a week but they've lost 1lb ... how I wonder..? Well, some other things have explained it - water retention from approaching period, they have their period and repeat the process for another two weeks, not only does the retention drop the other weight does too, hey presto 5-7lbs in 3-4 weeks.
I don't have the sample sizes, eye witness accounts, education to say for sure, all I can stress is people underestimate their intake and over estimate their exercise/diet quality, while doing the opposite for light and/or fit people. A few bad apples may spoil my impression but even at the age of 30 I look down on people who blame their genetics for it and ALWAYS think they are deluded.
There's plenty of stuff I've sucked at in life, lots of different reasons, but my point is I'll concede that they are either plain better than me at it or that I just dont have the drive/passion in that area to do it properly. so I can completely sympathise with people who don't want to cut carbs and work to 95% capacity in a gym while studfying exactly how to do it, families who cant afford a massive range of healthy food, or are stressed to death and can't be cooking an hour worth of food with 45 minutes of dishes, Im not that ignorant (I hope..)
still comes down to calories in vs calories out - intensity levels, diet quality.

I'm not even talking about ME during all of this.
leal was trying to swerve my words around against me saying that the reason why I'm fat is because I have a slow metabolism. I never once said that. I said that I know I'm fat and I just accept it. I'm doing things to try and change it. I got this big because I didn't pay attention to what I was eating, nor did I care. Now, I'm kind of getting disgusted at myself when I look in the mirror. Being fat is hard, but it's a condition that some of us CHOSE to be put into.
If there was anything close regarding 'genetics' or 'metabolism', when referring to myself personally, during any of my statements it was when I spoke about when I was younger. I would eat shit tier food but still go outside and play. I was a pretty chubby kid growing up and nothing has ever really changed. I had actually joined a football team back in High School, which got me a lot of exercise, but I still didn't shed the weight. Instead, I gained a lot of muscle.
I asked some of the guys ( my friends ) why I wasn't really losing weight, but I was working out as hard as anyone else out there. They told me that if I gain muscle before I lose the weight, the fat gets stuck in pockets because it has no where to go. Or something like that. After High School, though, I let myself go. I did and ate what felt good.
I know that I'm fat, I'm wanting to change it. Today, I was at the gym for nearly two hours. Doing some weight lifting and general cardio. I'm fucking exhausted. I'm trying to fix the issue.
My friend on the other hand, eats what he wants and doesn't gain shit. He's a scrawny motherfucker, so his is friend that he games with. It's crazy. I just assumed he had a fast metabolism because he did what he did with almost little to no consequences.

Why not train in the most difficult ways? Wearing shoes DLing conventional instead of sumo stance or some other self controlled handicap will make your strong in time. Powerlifters who do this sort of thing can then peak for a competition without shoes and in a competition stance ect and make mad gains.
#26880 - baglesbites (02/25/2015) [-]
I personally am stronger in a sumo stance, always have been. I usually train in a conventional stance because I enjoy it more and it builds more mass in my upper back. When it comes time to test a max I switch over. I also recently found out Ed Coan used to do this and he is arguably the strongest power lifters pound for pound with a 901 deadlift in the 220 weight class. I'll probably never reach his level, but dammit I'm gonna try.
#26883 - studbeefpile (02/25/2015) [-]
It has to do with limb lengths yo. It's different for different people. Sumo isn't just stronger for everyone, in fact the American Deadlift Record was set by Vince Urbank with a 906 pull conventional. A lot of lifters pull better conventional, it's just based on the length of your arms and femurs. People with long arms and short femurs will be much stronger conventional, whereas people with shorter arms and longer femurs (such as myself) will do better sumo. It's not that one is inherently stronger than the other for everybody, it just depends on what does better for your genetics. If you have better leverages for sumo, then you should train sumo and accessorize with conventional, and vice versa - especially considering they emphasize slightly different muscle groups.

I understand the whole leverages thing. I was just stating that in my time lifting, I've found that I personally make the best progress using conventional for a bulk of my training. Conventional stance also translates a bit better to my squatting making it a touch better for total body development.
Most deadlift records are set using conventional stances, including the 1015 world record. Brian Shaw hit a high 900s DL in his Worlds Strongest Man training and he uses an unusually wide conventional stance. That may be due to his height, but it works for him.
