U.S. Colleges have just been raising the damned fees because the new generations will take it. It pisses me off personally for two reasons, but regardless, when they can't even supply you with a fucking text book with all the money you're paying to get in the damn college. And it's not like it's that expensive, the government helps, and proffessors generally don't do anything besides speak. Unless you're going to a tech school of course where you actually do stuff on occasion. And a fucking community college is upwards of 8 grand now I believe, in arizona at least. It's ridiculous.

University in the US 20,000$ a semester.

University in Canada 5,000$ a semester.

Canada has a better ranked education system than the US but costs a shit ton less. Why do you think that is?

really? check out the top 50 international universities

That ranking is based on things like Income and Reputation and Population. It gives very little information about how well people are taught and the level of education being handed out.

not to mention what you just said is flat out false, right on the article it explains their methodology - 30% from teaching, 30% from research, and 32.5% from citations. only 2.5% comes from income...

there are plenty of other sources to corroborate the quality of education in the united states. Its no secret. I promise you there are way more Canadians that come to the US for school than Americans who go to Canada for school.

Ok fine, lets say that it is, know where the BEST education comes from? Norway.

Norway is number one in education as ranked by the UN. Irrefutably better than both America and Canada. Their higher education is cheaper than both of those countries.

More money =/= better education.

Scandinavia in general has better k-12 education than the rest of the world. However, the BEST higher education irrefutably comes from america. Thats why so many Scandinavian students go to university in America. You just said that Norway is cheaper - that may be so but as you said yourself "more money =/= better education".

Schools get a ton of help from the government and rich philanthropists. They are also sitting on literally billions of dollars worth of endowments that they already have saved up.

They just keep raising the prices because they can. They know people have to pay, and they also know that there really is no way to cap the spending that they are doing so they just continue to spend money on unnecessary amenities like pretty-looking eating quarters and gyms.

that depends on the school's age and size, i go to a smaller university and government funding cuts out in mid october, at which point donors and alumni pick up the slack...probably comes from the fact that we're in Texas but don't have a football team

You're in Texas and don't have a football team??

there's a couple schools down here that don't, either due to lack of student interest or lack of funding
