Would you show half of the Lolis on the front page to your boss?
Or a Hitler tribute?

Lets put the entire frontpage in NSFW just to be safe eh?

People say "NSFW" so often they've given it a different meaning.
The abbreviation is literally, "Not Safe For Work" it's something you would want to have open at work, it doesn't just entail nudity or gore. It's anything really that isn't PG/PG-13 rating. Meaning even a guy having Victoria Secret catalogs open up with half naked women, or maybe even a Hitler tribute would be NSFW.

I don't think any boss would like to see someone they're paying to be on this site at all.

I agree that this is how you pitch games to your friends. But i think the argument is that journalists have to make arguments other then "it's fun".
And when i try to convince friends to play a game i like i go into detail, and fun can be subjective, not everybody likes the same things. So i think you are both right because you do not disagree.

to be fair, deep adventure, immersive story, in-depth puzzles and memorable boss fights are not words i would use when describing overwatch...

I would say, compelling gameplay, awesome heroes, well designed maps, fantastic gunplay and yeah, a lot of fun

i would more say that overwatch is a perfect time waster.

its not that deep, its easy to get into, its simple. and its in the end fast paced and varied in its gameplay.

its just a great timewaster when you have nothing to do. a fun game to play but nothing really that special that deserves high praises and awards.

I kind of understand why the Forbes writer is asking the question, but it's just stupid how they made it a click bait title. Yes gamers have high expectations when it comes to games. We want stunning graphics, we want tight controls and solid gameplay mechanics, but most importantly, we want a game that we can continue to enjoy for whatever reason we enjoy it, and that varies from person to person.

If the gameplay is limited and repetitive, our interest can wane very quickly even if everything else about the game is amazing. The best example of this was the launch of Destiny. I know they have really changed things with the expansions, but for the most part, many gamers have written that game off because it was a repetitive grind fest. It's what many are saying about The Division right now. It's fun... at first, but repetitive, and because of that many have already shelved that game less than 3 months after release.

Now, where this article seems stupid is it ignores one fact, the PvP element. PvP is probably the most dynamic style of gameplay because of the human element involved. There is no scripted NPC, just you versus other people playing for whatever reason they are playing. Are they trying to be competitive? Do they just want to play around and have fun? Are they hard core? Do they just want to troll? Every match is a different experience. That's a large part of why games like LoL/DotA, have lasted despite having limited gameplay modes.

The only thing I don't know about Overwatch is if you can develop and customize yourself as you level up and such (like summoner levels, talents, glyphs, etc in LoL). Can you choose skills that cater towards DPS, compared to tank, compared to support? Is there anything to build a character or is it all just vanity items? That could make a big difference in the longevity of the game.

there is no character cuztomization in overwatch of any sort.

the only tactical element comes from choosing heroes that can counter whatever your opposition has. but its simple rock paper scissors and mainly it comes down to something along the lines of either picking reinhart or picking lucio/mercy.

its still fun, all of the heroes act differently and are fun to play. but its nothing amazingly deep as i said, nor is it that ground breaking.

think tf2 with more classes
#162 - tvveeder (06/03/2016) [-]
So it could very easily turn into one of those games that is fun for a while but shelved quickly. If I'm not mistaken, TF2 may not have the number of 'classes' but has more game play modes, right? I've never played TF2, and I know it's wildly popular, but that's part because it's F2P with microtransactions in game. The problem I have with Overwatch, it's a game that tries to do the same, but it's a full price game AND has micro transactions.
#215 - anon (06/05/2016) [-]
it's a full price, well-perfected game and the micro-trans aren't actually micro trans, while tf2 aren't really either. cosmetic microtransactions pretty much fall under the category because they're, well, cosmetic. but in overwatch just by playing you'll get all this fancy shit anyway, so they're 100% optional and only get you looking fab quicker than usual

all good. many people get confused when there are koreans in game or movie, they just assume it's either Chinese or Japanese.

Korea was pretty much unknown to the western world til the 1950's when the war broke out and again in 90's for tv's, cars, ships and again in 2010's with cancer kpop.

The McDonalds lawsuit was because she was terribly burned by it due to the unsafe temperatures that they heated the coffee to.
