Question: I'm learning German, and so far as I know the word for information is written just the same. Why does it say "informationen"? Is that a thing you do when you put words together like that or...?

I mean what else would you do with it
Nobody would want to have sex with a snickers dick
And it'd probably melt anyway

My Deutsch is incredibly rusty n basic but...I do know Informationen is also a correct (AFAIK) german word for information. It may have to do with singular vs plural information, or the context 'information' is being used in....

I really do need to get back to relearning it lol.

Yeah, i looked it up. It's the plural. I wouldn't expect a word like "information" to have a plural, but I guess.

In English, information is a mass noun.
In German n other language, thats not always the case.

Conversely, they have different words that are 'universal' (some unique to them, some translated).

Thats one aspect of why I love Linguistics. How simultaneously different yet similar languages can be.
Gotta try to remember not to always assume/believe language A is exactly like language B.
Fun fact: German has a different typical word order to ours. Its obvious how structure is different for Asian languages compared to European, but even Deustch is different.

For example; we might say 'I will throw the ball' or 'Am I throwing the ball?'
Germans would literally say "I will the ball away-throw" or "Throw I the ball away"? That's direct translations of course.

PS: My German is incredibly rusty, so any incorrect bits Im sure gib can/will correct me on. Main point is...German sentence structure is different than ours. English is unique in how utterly rigid its sentence structure really is compared to....basically all other languages.

I mean, that's not unique to german. We have that with "data", both written the same but the pronunciation changes based on singular or plural. I still think that's dumb. And yeah, I know the structure is different too. And English isn't that rigid, it's also not that flexible since it's an agglutinative language but given how most languages on earth are isolating that's comparatively fairly loose.
