Any kind of activity will help reduce fat as you burn calories.
However, the best way to reduce bodyfat percentage (and thus have visible abs) would be a dietary change. Basically, more proteins, less fat.

i am unsure here, but with protein you mean like chicken? and would not more vegetables and less meat at the start help, then inmcrease protein intake after time?

and is not jogging / running like activities the ones that burn the most calories? as i said i dont know and are just curious

Alright, I'm by no means an expert. So really, don't take anything I say for granted. I just like to work out and watch what I eat. Looking this up would yield more reliable information.

If I remember correctly, when done properly, weight lifting or just strength training has the potential to burn more calories than cardio. However, I wouldn't have the slightest clue under what specific circumstances those would be. I personally do both kinds of training because I like training for functional fitness, but that's just one potential goal out of many.

As for protein intake, I can tell from experience that, yes, you're going to have a very frequently used toilet if you go from your average diet to a high protein diet immediately. Personally, I just toughed that out for the first few months until my body got used to it. Still, if you prefer not to pass wind and have everyone in a 3 mile radius being able to track you down by smell, gradually building up is probably another good way.

The thing with protein intake from animals or plants, or so I've been taught/told, plant based protein is higher in quality, but you get less of it per calorie count.
While meat based protein is lower in quality, but you get far more of it per calorie count. Believe me, that kind of helps a lot if you're 6'5", or just burn a lot of calories on average for whatever reason.

And yeah, white meat, or just chicken breast is the best source of meat based protein because chicken has far less calories than something like, say, steak.
(To boot, it's cheap meat, so how can you say no to that, right?)

While weight loss was never my immediate concern, I've been told that a 40% protein/30% carb and fat is ideal for weight loss.

Anyway, as I said, don't take anything I said here for granted. It's all mostly either from personal experience (which highly varies from person to person), or from people I consider reliable sources.
