How is he not gonna pay for the shipping???
If he wants it he either has to pay the shipping or get above 75.
Yes, brain is not considering that $2 will not be the final price but then he's wrong and that's what I was pointing out. no pun

I didn't saw he isn't going to pay for shipping WTF!? He isn't CONSIDERING IT ON THE MOMENT, that's all there is to it.

I know damn well the brain want to only pay the 2 $ + the shipping but it doesn't matter in that perspective because out of the 2 $ he currently KNOW he will spend, there is 73 $ Left to get said shipping and that's what he's explaining to the heart.

Jesus Christ man it isn't hard to understand. You can't add a number before even knowing the real shipping cost, as he clearly didn't looked it up, YET

Let's have a thought experiment and say you want to buy a toothbrush online for whatever reason.
They list a price of 2$. The store offers free shipping if you make a purchase above 75 dollars total
If your purchase is below that, they will charge a shipping price. IDK how much that will be but let's say $5. Examples of shipping costs:
www.riteaid.com/customer-support/shipping-policy $5.49 or free w/$34.99 purchase
www.spreadshirt.com/help-C1328/articleId/542 4,99

Scenario 1) You pay them the item and the shipping = 7$
You say damn son, that's a lot of money for a fukken toothbrush so heart goes "hey look at all the other cool stuff they have and you go for
Scenario 2)
You but the toothbrush and candy worth $73. Total checkout sum is exactly $75, shipping is free, you pay 75.
Heart says great, we saved 5 dollar because free shipping and got a lot of candy
But the brain says no it's not great, because we payd 75 and not the 7 we would have had to pay to get just that one item.
That's a difference of 68 between scenario 1 and 2.
How do you not understand that?!
User avatar #41 - kevinator (06/25/2015) [-]
Because he doesn't imply that he's paying for the shipping yet, how are you so dense?

The brain, got the immediate number, wich is now, he's not thinking later, as of now it isn't even in his brain pun to pay for shipping, he got the 2 $ item on his check out, he doesn't, so as off now, the brain is saying: I'm not paying an extra 73 $ to get the free shipping.

I know ffs. But the amount he has to pay to get his 2$ item is not just 2$, its 2$ plus shipping.
Unless it's a FOR EXAMPLE 50 cent item and $1,5 shipping. Which I would deem unusual because I'd expect it to be more

That's why I SAID I don't know how much shipping is in the US but that's still the way to calculate how much more you spend.
In the comic they say that there IS a shipping cost but it's not specified. That's why I said it was an example. if I had to guess, I'd estimate shipping a book or something is at least 2-3 dollars.
So it's price of the item plus shipping what he will have to pay. If he wants to pay more to get the shipping "for free" brain will have to pay [75-price of item-shipping]
User avatar #38 - kevinator (06/25/2015) [-]
So what kind of website do you go to that take into account, your shipping cost, to make it to the marging of free shipping? You usually have to spend X amount of cash before getting the service and that never include shipping cost services you would of paid for before.

If they want you to spend 75 $ for free shipping and you only paid 2 $, they won't account in that you're going to spend say 5$ on shipping and deduct that from the ''Free shipping margin'' , they want you to spend another 73 $ to get said service free. If you were to only spend 74 $, you're going to pay 74 $ for your item and 5 $ for shipping because you didn't break through the margin.

Brain wants to buy a $2 item. Shipping costs $5 (just an example) if you are below 75.
So they would charge 7 dollars.
If you want to get "free" shipping you will be spending at least 75 in stead of 7. That's 68 more
