Considering most NHL teams have a capacity of around 19,000 per home game, I bet there is a science behind it that includes "football is more popular than hockey". lol

Yeah, but that will only be for outdoor hockey events that they'll fill it with that many people for a good price. They can fill that many seats for any game, but they wouldn't get a good consistent crowd and make any money if they bothered to house over 100,000 people. The Joe is one of the biggest arenas for regular NHL seating (if not the biggest).

They only use big football stadiums to their maximum seating potential for highly commercialized events like the outdoor games. For the Winter Classic this past year, they used Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor and had over 105,000 people in attendance.

Given that they can sell out almost every home game for the Lions, I think they could sell out a place that large for any team here in Detroit.

Yeah, they're planning on building a new arena. I forget the details on it at this point. The Joe is good though. It holds I think around 23,000 for a hockey game. It's just getting old I guess. I've been a few times (I live like 2.5 hours north and have to cross the border, otherwise I'd go more often or consider season tickets) and it's pretty sweet.

I'm 100% sure it's the longest playoff streak in US major sports. I don't know if they've compared it to other major sports or leagues throughout the world though.

Canadian guy, eh?

I'm in Michigan, maybe a half hour drive from the Joe. Straight shot down I-75 for me.

Now, see, I don't know if that's big for a hockey arena. I've been to University of Michigan football games. Their stadium, The Big House, seats 109,901, but can actually hold up to 115,000.
User avatar #28 - richardastley (46 minutes ago) [-]

Babcock was the coach. But yeah, it's no secret that Detroit has had one of the best teams inside and out of the actual roster in the past twenty years. Bowman and Yzerman were two of the biggest reasons for that. If they had better coaching immediately after Bowman left, they could have easily won another couple of Cups. I met Steve Thomas a few years ago, and when I had him sign my Red Wings shirt (even though he was only there for like a year), he was like "Yeah, we should have really won a Stanley Cup that year." He sounded so regretful it was actually funny.
User avatar #24 - kerfufflemachtwo (1 hour ago) [-]
Ah, right, sorry.

Yeah, they hold the record for the most consecutive years in the playoffs. Definitely for the NHL, and I think for all the major sports in the US. Obviously, they're doing something right.

Never been to a game, but I've been past the Joe a few times. Heard rumors that it might get replaced soon.

I find it amusing how the 2012 Canadian Olympic Hockey team had a good chunk of its members connected to the Red Wings. Including Yzerman being the manager and Bowman being the coach.

#157 - amuzen (1 hour ago) [-]
yeah 15 dollars is a lot, a full time job should have someone working ~160 hours a month, it costs about 1000 dollars for a young adult to get by (500 for a cheap apartment, 100-200 for utilities, 200-300 for food) and McDonalds really isn't the kind of job people should except to support a family with. Plus they should make like 200-300 dollars a month for savings so they don't have to expect to live that way their entire lives so minimum wage should be like 1500 / 160 or 9.50~

Well, according to Bulbapedia, Hidden Abilities are only available a few different ways. Serebii says his is active, so I guess there's a chance he'll have it just running into him, but I'm not sure.

I just bred a Gible with Rough skin, Outrage, and perfect HP, Attack, Defense, Sp Defense and Speed IVs. I cannot contain my excitement and had to tell someone.

Also, adding your code now. Mine is 2595-1862-5907

I got Ruby. And several Treeckos leftover from breeding to give away.

Sweet. I got Sapphire. Any version exclusives you want for your Pokedex?

Also, I don't need a Treecko. Already got a Sceptile. I'll just breed him.

Pretty much everything except Lotad. Don't need Kyogre, I'll bring mine over from Y.

I got a Lugia, a Thundurus, and a Zekrom I caught in AS. Haven't gotten around to getting Dialga yet.

I've been team building, I've only caught the three Swords, missing Uxie, got Ho-Oh, none of the legendary dogs, none of the Regis, no Palkia, no Reshiram yet.
User avatar #13 to #12 - kerfufflemachtwo (12/10/2014) [-]
Well, Uxie you have to get between 20:00 and 21:00.

The dogs, you have to have Lugia or Ho-oh with you first. And they're minute based instead of hour. :00 to :20 is Raikou, :20 to :40 is Entei, and :40 to :00 in Suicune.

The Regis are a whole bunch of steps. And to get Regigigas, you have to give Regice a nickname and a frozen hold item.

Ho-oh is in Sea Mauville.

Reshiram, you need a level 100 Pokemon with you.
User avatar #14 to #13 - dandamanzx ONLINE (12/10/2014) [-]
**** , I'd just bring over my guys from Y but I'm one of those weird stubborn people who won't bring my old pokemon over until I've completed everything in the game first and get a good team with the pokemon available. I feel like it's more fun that way.
User avatar #15 to #14 - kerfufflemachtwo (12/10/2014) [-]
I brought everybody from Y and just continued what I was doing. Filling my Pokedex and getting the ones I like up to 100.

I am gonna replay through Diamond, Heart Gold, Black, and Black 2 just to bring Pokemon up to AS.
