Younglings barely hold up their training lightsabers which do shit in combat; there could've been fifty of them in the room and they'd all get owned by someone of Anakin's caliber.

Based on the history of Kotaku, they most likely promote shorter games because games take a lot of effort to make.
They have friends who make games, so they try and make it seem like shorter is better so their friends don't have to work so hard to make a "good" game in their eyes.
That or maybe they're idiots who try to seem edgy by enjoying games for other reasons outside of it being fun and competitive.
If I'm not mistaken, I think they're one of the sites who promoted Zoey Quinn's Depression Quest as a fantastic game, even though it was pretty much an over priced microsoft powerpower presentation.
And if(God forbid) you read their articles. They always seem to praise low-quality Indie crap, while smack talking games made by big time game publishers, even if they're praised by the gaming community.

That guy who wrote the article felt it was worth the money and that guy who spent little time to make the game felt it was worth the effort. I would sell stupid games too if i could make good money with it. Noone is feeling betrayed here. Offering and presenting little is certainly way better than presenting much and offering litte like many other producers do so right now. I don't see a reason to blame someone who takes advantage of people having weird tastes.

Well AAA games certainly won't get influenced by indie games and the sort of stuff in the middle probably wont either. I think companies mainly copy from companies which are similarily big or bigger. About the legitimisation thing look at it that way: It gets only as much legitimised as it gets bought. And this 10 minute game certainly doesn't sell that well. Capitalism finds a way to deliver people what they want. I don't see a problem with people offering weird stuff as long as it doesn't affect the good stuff. And no producer of a solid game would consider shortening a game only to make it shorter anyways.
