My dad and I are both pilots and I've thought about work arounds without spending over $3k on two parachutes. Even if one of us are the instructor. It's still a massive gray area. One of those, legal until you crash.

Man was a national hero. They broke the mold with him.

You were a douche canoe, thus you got red thumbs. Enjoy your butthurt.

I never insulted him in any way, shape or form, I actually felt sad for his death but what bothered me is that you guys tend to be hypocrytes when it comes to this kind of stuff:
i.e.: Steve Irwin died, everyone was making jokes about how he died with animals in his heart, Michael Jackson died, RIP pedobear, then Robin Williams died, someone made a joke and everyone went ******* . That's what I've trying to explain for the past 8 hours to everyone butthurt about my comment. Also, I see you're disagreeing with my statement that homeless people actually have the right to live like everyone else. Is it that you hate the homeless or did you thumb down everything I said because I'm stupid?

Hey I just wanted to tell you I appreciated the edumacation even though i knew most of what was in the content. In my eyes if one person can be saved from ignorance its a good thing. You should keep up the good work.

Thank you, that means a lot! I wasn't trying to be a dick at all either... Some people did rub me the wrong way, but the whole purpose was just to state simple facts.. Not start internet fights. Most of my content I've tried to get different perspectives on, not attack one side or the other.
User avatar #7 to #6 - theaveragejoe (06/14/2014) [-]
Yeah I saw that a lot when looking through the comments. Some people are just always looking for confrontation I guess. I did like how you took an active role in responding to questions posed by the commenters and stickying helpful threads

I like you. That Edumacation post is my new favorite thing on it, primarily because of the comments. You interact well with people and answer questions politely.

Basically, you're a badass. Do you have any plans for any future firearm-related content?
User avatar #2 to #1 - kamikazikraut (06/14/2014) [-]
I hadn't thought of it.. But I could possible open up my gunsafe and take some pictures and make some reviews of them. I have XX amount of firearms.

It sucks though because some people in the comments don't read the stickies. I try and use them to identify commonly asked questions. In my other "politically charged" posts, I try to stay on top of the ball and answer as many questions as I can.

In short, thank you
User avatar #3 to #2 - nyctonightingale (06/14/2014) [-]
I'd enjoy the heck out of that, and just that one post made me instantly subscribe.

What kind of firearms do you primarily have? If you don't mind me asking.

I live in Colorado, USA, and I just use a Husqvarna .270 bolt action rifle with a 6x scope, and an old pump-action .22 rifle that my grandpa used to use. Mostly just use them for hunting though, although I don't go out all to often anymore.
Anytime.

I collect military style weapons. Primarily WWII, but I also have a Scar, WASR-10, M1A, and a PSL to name a few.
User avatar #8 to #4 - nyctonightingale (06/14/2014) [-]
Awesome. I almost bought an old Mosin a few years ago but then I saw how corroded the barrel was. I'm really interested in getting a Karabiner 98 Kurz though.
#9 to #8 - Rascal (06/14/2014) [-]
K98k's are interesting. Mauser's are sweet guns. I wound up picking up an Israeli Mauser. It was manufactured in 1936 for Germany. You can still see the eagle's. After the war it was given to Israel and rechambered in the more common 7.62x51/.308. I bought it for $200 and refinished the stock. It's one of my favorite rifles. Dead accurate for how old. They normally go for $300-$400 now. Everyone should own a 91/30 mosin just due to the fact that 440rds go for about $100 in a spam can. Can't beat that! I'd love an SVT40... but in the past six years they've gone up from $400-$800ish.

And I wasnt logged in..
User avatar #13 to #10 - nyctonightingale (06/15/2014) [-]
Hahaha, nice one! But yeah, I'd love to have an old mauser. There's just something about bolt action rifles that I find fascinating, old WWII-era rifles even more-so.

I think I'd like to get my hands on a Gewher 43. I saw one get fired a while back and it just has one of the most satisfying cracks of a rifle I've ever heard, and it was pretty damn accurate.

And the fact that your Kar98k still has it's bird on it is pretty sweet!
User avatar #14 to #13 - kamikazikraut (06/15/2014) [-]
G43's are very nice rifles but extremely rare. Last few I've seen have gone for $3k on up to $5k...
User avatar #15 to #14 - nyctonightingale (06/15/2014) [-]
Oh wow, I didn't know that. Maybe I'll wait a bit before I try to get one.. haha. How are SVT40's, though? Despite their price are they difficult to find?
User avatar #16 to #15 - kamikazikraut (06/15/2014) [-]
Only way to find them is to pretty much go on gunbroker.com. I recently bought a PSL (Romanian "dragunov") which is basically an oversized AK that shoots the 7.62x54R, same round as the SVT40. I wouldn't feel bad getting it dinged up as I would an SVT40. The PSLs have shot up tremendously in price too.. They used to be $600ish now they're $1100-1300.
User avatar #17 to #16 - nyctonightingale (06/15/2014) [-]
Are they good rifles, though? Accurate and fun to shoot? I haven't heard much about PSL's so I wouldn't know.
User avatar #18 to #17 - kamikazikraut (06/16/2014) [-]
They're pretty fun. I haven't shot one but I have been able to hold one. I'd be afraid of damaging or denting the stock. A friend of mine has one and says that they're pretty different to disassemble.

SVT 40
User avatar #19 to #18 - nyctonightingale (06/16/2014) [-]
Aahhhh cool! So you have one but you haven't fired it yet?
User avatar #20 to #19 - kamikazikraut (06/16/2014) [-]
One of my friends who worked at Cabela's was able to get one. Sadly he moved about a week ago before I could fire it. He broke it down several times to clean it and was amazed at how complex it was. "It's no wonder they stuck with the 91/30 over the SVT40."
User avatar #21 to #20 - nyctonightingale (06/18/2014) [-]
Ohh dang, that sucks! It definitely is a good looking rifle, though. AK platforms look so crude but great at the same time to me, but with a rifle like that, I'm not surprised it had a complex interior!
