If your evidence is behind a paywall then it's probably The Truth™. If someone genuinely had irrefutable evidence then they would display it for free on every platform they could find. Apologists are scam artists, nothing more.

I don't think you're really one to decide what other people should do with their information. You don't know why they're charging for it. I can tell you this much: The TrueU project is part of a larger ministry, and as much as we don't want to admit it, ministry costs money, whether it's to fund projects like this, producing convenient DVDs so that they can reach people more easily, or even to donate to charities. That's their business. Either way, it's reasonable to put a price tag on convenience. That doesn't make it a scam.

So from what I understand it's sort of a primer to apologetics aimed, rather disturbingly, at young people. Given the nature of this material it is safe to say that it fails to qualify as substantive evidence, in fact it fails to even qualify as an effective paperweight.

To clarify a peer-reviewed, well sourced paper outlining the evidence would do perfectly well, there is no need to break out the budget editing software.

User avatar
#145204 - jokeface (08/06/2016) [-]
If you like genetics, just wait until you get to the part of TrueU where they discuss that. It'll blow your mind. They talk about how all that apparent "junk DNA" that evolutionary theorists always talk about have actually been shown to function as the genetic equivalent of subroutines in computers that give instructions to the main genes and tell them how to operate. It's fascinating.
User avatar
#145205 - zlane (08/06/2016) [-]
sounds great, i want to learn as much as possible about the subject.

evolution requires most of the genome to be junk or loosely functional otherwise, under their paradigm, the genetic load would be too high to preserve the functional genome.

i've noticed a funny trend where most evolutionary biologists try to find evidence of no function in the genome, while the real scientists (molecular biologists) are continually finding evidence of function.

this paper says that 93% of disease and trait-associated mutations occur in non-coding DNA , which has obvious implications. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3771521/

#145206 - zlane (08/06/2016) [-]
this hilarious quote from Dan Graur really highlights the trend

“the evolution-free philosophy of ENCODE has not started in 2012… the wannabe ignoramuses, self-promoting bureaucrats, and ol’ fashion crooks of ENCODE are protected from criticism and penalties for cheating by the person who gives them the money. Thus, they can continue to take as much money from the public as their pockets would hold, and in return they will continue to produce large piles of excrement that are hungrily consumed by gullible journalists who double as Science editors.”

translation: "i don't like the implications of their work, therefore they're lying, thieving crooks. it's a Christian conspiracy!!!!111"
