I quite agree. But he does keep his fingers relatively clear, so safety points for that.

There was the evening then the morning which was the first day. Then he placed two great lights, the greater in the day, and the lesser in the evening. They were literal 24 hour days.

The thing is though, the Bible never mentions the dinosaurs. Sure it says he made the beasts of the land and sea and air (which he does again, after he makes humans..), but wouldn't it be important to mention the giant asteroid that hit the planet killing everything as well? I guess one could argue that it would sound like God made a mistake so they would omit it, but this is the fucking Bible we're talking about, the so-called word of God. So even if it's a bad thing, I would think it deserves a mention somewhere.

I cant believe I just read such a refreshing argument/contention/option. I feel it is much better to debate the existence of a omnipotent being than to just say he exists and that is the end of it. For the record I am 100% agnostic (99.9999999% atheist) though I am more than happy to discuss things like this that actually have plausible possibility.

That being said I do not believe that could be the case. Biological evolution does not require God in order to function. As a matter of fact we have clearly shown many times over that nothing absolute requires God to explain. Can God be used to explain something? Can he be used as an option? Of course he can, but explaining something that is complex with something that is far more complex is bad science and is almost never truth.

Here's the problem with creationists arguing evolution. From a biblical standpoint, evolution remains strong. 700 different species went onto the ark. As there are tens of thousands of species of land animals documented today, the number would be impossible if those 700 didn't evolve to current counts. Also, take into account human races. There are roughly 30 different ethnicities that can be easily counted. How are all these different people possible without evolution?

In the bible it says a 1000 years to us is a day to god. Also the first six days mentioned in genisis was not 6000 years it was basicly saying 6 phases and not six literal days

i like the way you think, but being raised as a catholic and attending 12 years of catholic education i can tell you. that theory is not possible. according to the catholic faith God exists outside of time, not in a different tine. because of this he is an eternal and unchanging being. so because god does not change or experience any time at all saying that his time would be different than ours is a false statement.
also i would like to point out that the creation theory is not strict law at all and is up to individual interpretation. so you have that going for you.

hoped this helped

From what I recall, the same thing that translated into English as '7 days' Could very well have gone to 7 "Eras/periods" so it could mean a much larger time scale.
User avatar #169 - cabbageexplain (04/15/2014) [-]
7 is used many times throught the bible because it is the number of perfection. the Hebrews liked to used numbers non literally to represent certain things, such as 666 being evil and 40 which means "a shiton"
User avatar #172 - deadmice (04/15/2014) [-]
what i meant was that there is nothing definitive about the translation to the word "Day"

I always though that biblical creation was just an allegory that god created everything. Also it was something that people could comprehend at the time. Until 15 century we couldn't even believe that earth isn't in centre of universe.
