Did you have previous experience as a plane technician before or is it something you learned when enlisted? I've been thinking about joining the military as a tech guy or something.

Nah I had absolutely 0 experience in it. You'll go to schoo for it but to tell you the truth, you won't learn much of anything in the school. You learn once you get to your permanent duty station and get hands on training. It's not a bad job, pretty chill compared to other jobs in the Marine Corps. Also since i am a marine i dont technically work on blue angles but I work with ordinary F18s and it's the same shit. Only Navy does those

I'm not sure if this is always the case but from what I understand, the military will generally give you whatever training is required free of charge for whatever job they want you to do. This sometimes includes a college education with all expenses paid, (not to be confused with the "GI Bill", which is something you can get AFTER your service if you decide only to do four years instead of becoming a "lifer").

People thumbing me down don't know what they're talking about. I'm a Marine working for the navy as a fighter jet electronic technician. I've seen how a lot of the pilots are and I worked with Air force pilots too and I can tell you that they go through much longer and extensive training for their pilots. There's a reason our Air Force is stronger than our Navy's aviation field. Otherwise, we'd do away with the Air force.
