That movie would have been better with less cardboard acting, still loved it

That was (un)intentional actually

It was supposed to be like the originals. Story nobody gives half a shit about, bad acting, GOJIRAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, 10-15 minutes of shit acting/story, GOJIRAAAAAAAAAAAA'

Apart from Brian Cranston and the Japanese doctor whos name I forget, it was all B movie cast for the explicit purpose of "Nobody gives a shit, here's a giant Radiation eating lizard breathing weird radioactive fire sludge down and aliens throat. For a decapitation"

And goddamnit I loved every second of it

So disappointed by this film Even though that scene + the skydiving scene was pretty epic. I just don't get why you would make a film starring one of the worlds most recognizable monsters, after King Kong (arguably) and only show like 15 minutes of screen time with him.

I think for the story they were trying to tell he had enough screen time. What people don't seem to understand about the genre is that it's not about the monster's appearance so much as it is it's presence and Godzilla's presence could be felt throughout the whole movie, he had an impact on everything that happened. That said it isn't something that should carry over to the sequel, people know Godzilla is out there now it wouldn't work to have the same restraint.

Yeah I get what you're saying, it's just not what I was expecting at all when I decided to watch godzilla, you know. Still was a decent movie, even though the lead actor is made of cardboard or something. He was just soooo boring.

Fair enough. I was following all the news and reading all the articles for this movie since before it was even officially announced and it was all speculation. So I knew what to expect. But yeah the lead actor I think just had a pretty bland character, he didn't have much to work with.

Yeah I can agree with that, because I liked him in kick-ass, but probably the writers fault on that one. Also I wished they would focus the story more on Brian Cranston's character, would have made it much more interesting IMO

I feel like his character served his purpose. I think if they kept Cranston around he wouldn't do much. The other scientists would over shadow him. I do think Ken Watanabe should have had a bigger role. He pretty much just looked confused and said some quotes about the arrogance of man and let them fight.

Yeah, Watanabe was definitely an under-used resource. And yeah, he did serve his purpose, but I just wanted a bit, more, you know?

Yeah I feel you dawg. I think with Cranston this was his first gig after Breaking Bad so we all wanted to see more of him, the ads didn't help either. I caught it when they relased the 3rd or 4th trailer, I noticed they kept showing Cranston in the same 3 scenes so as I was watching the movie I knew he wasn't gonna stick around for long. As for Watanabe there's always hope for the sequels, they have to be good we're getting King Ghidorah fuck yeah

Yeah, I think the hype was the thing that kinda "killed" it for me. Seeing cranston so much in the trailers (like you said) and then him not having any screentime sucked. But yeah I have better hopes for the sequel.

I'm just so excited for King Ghidorah. After seeing how well they did with Godzilla's design I just can't wait to see what they do with Ghidorah. I hope for his origin they make him some ancient being that gets awoken by some stupid shit humans do. He could be another apex predator that competed with Godzilla's species, he definitely should not be some alien monster I don't think it'll work with tone they're going for. Mothra should remain as is tho, the fantasy elements are core for her. Just make the fairy sisters not tiny if they're gonna appear at all. Rodan should be easier to work with. I do hope Anguirus shows up too. I'm so excited for these movies, the last Godzilla movie to come out was in 2008 it's been a long wait for me.

God that scene was so awesome. They really needed more moments like that,
I also loved when he just nonchalantly drops the MUTO's head into the water. So badass.

That was one of the more epic points of the film
Too bad the rest of it wasn't up to par
