Let's say that you used tcl in Skyrim and flew across the map. It would probably take you about 30min. That's still almost three times more than FO4.

go log onto skyrim and time yourself unning across the map, its not 2 hours.

interesting. and Skyrim's map wasn't square, while FO4's is.

i retract my previous comment then.

Na, intel updates their sockets pretty much every generation so you have to make sure you get 1150.

You just have to make sure your new CPU is compatible with your motherboard.

1. yup, so long as you get the right socket type, but 1150 is pretty new still so you are fine.
2. yes but up to a point, games dont really have optimization for much past 4 cores, so hyper-threading on i7s (effectively doubles the cores) has virtually no affect on gaming at the moment since most games wont be optimized to use 8 cores.

Most games until the last year or so haven't, but GTA 5 is a good example of how an i7 is in no way overkill for gaming. Even the 5820K I have can get some pretty high load when running GTA.

Plus there's more and more games coming out that are gonna be CPU heavy, especially open world games. *Looking at Fallout 4*
