Yes, look it up, it was in the news, every person killed by USA in Afghanistan with age above afair 14 years is considered "terrorist". With that naming, sure, you are killing "terrorists". When in fact you are killing civilians. On their land. When they are living their lives with their country being invaded by hostile force, that want to steal their natural resources (and they oppose that naturally). Yes, stop invading other countries to steal their stuff, i know it's so easy with your military power but please try.

last time i checked the american people didnt get a vote on where we go or what we assualt with our military, thats on the government, as far as the soilders are concerned they are just going where they are told and doing what they have to inorder to make it home in one piece.

I'm sick and tired of seeing all your bullshit comments, so I'm going to explain things nice and easy so you can understand what I'm saying.

1) Your country isn't always at war when a person decides to join the military. Many join in peacetime expecting a peaceful few years, probably serving in South Korea, where they can do what they think will be jack shit and get paid. They join, and the country decides to go to war. Aww shit, now there's a need for combat positions, so you take the people in peacekeeping areas away from that, and plop them into the field as infantry.

2) only 20% of positions in the military are combat positions anyways. I'm not exactly sure how often it happens, but you can get assigned to a combat position when you join the military even if you want a non-combat position. Sucks for you, but now you have to kill people for a living.

3) once you join the Military, you don't have a fucking choice in any matter. Sure, you could tell your superiors that you weren't going to kill an innocent. Have fun in court where they try to hang you for treason. You could also technically try to kill your superiors as your other alternative, that way you would die faster in the end.

No, you don't have to join the military. However, it's a good career, and many people join expecting to not get a combat position, or expecting to kill innocents, and much to their dismay, may be forced into that role.

I'm not going to say that there aren't heartless bastards that join the military to kill 'some damn sandniggers', but even in America, most of the people aren't that stupid.
User avatar #307 - lasmamoe (12/20/2012) [-]
Can't you just leave the military?
User avatar #318 - meganinja (12/20/2012) [-]
no, you sign commitment forms. The length depends, but generally they're between 2 and 4 year contracts. They don't ship you out to the middle of the desert in the Middle East just for you to say "I don't like it here, I quit." the next day, and imagine if you're on a fucking submarine, they aren't going to resurface just to let you off. I'm thinking of becoming a pilot in the Airforce, which, besides the 4 years of officers school/ training school, would require a 10 year contract from me of commitment in the military.

I know that back in Vietnam during the draft, you could leave after your contract ended, or if you stayed you had to sign another contract (although that may have only occurred in the stories I heard). However, after your time is up you are free to leave.
User avatar #348 - lasmamoe (12/20/2012) [-]
Holy shit, I was not aware of that.

So if you're in let's say Iraq, and you refuse to kill someone you're told to kill, what would happen?
User avatar #358 - meganinja (12/20/2012) [-]
Well, you could always REQUEST to not have to kill somebody. However, if your superior insists, failure to do so would be insubordination. That'l be a bitch, but (and don't quote me on this, I haven't served in the military yet) I don't think there's any criminal charges at this point. When you refuse to kill somebody though, you must tread carefully, as you could possibly go into the realm of treason, which is a felony, and I think you can still get executed for treason against the United States.

Normally you'd just get punished by cooking duty or cleaning duty and shit like that to teach you a lesson. If ever asked to do that in the military though, respectfully ask if you could possibly not do it, and if your superior isn't a crazy bitch he would probably have somebody else kill the person or do it himself.

I wouldn't just take the punishment though, as you don't ever want to be seen doing anything that could possibly be treasonous, and if your CO was pissed enough at you, and considered that one person of a high enough value target to warrant a treason inquiry, you're fucked.

People in USA elect their government, maybe under dictatorship people don't get to say what government does, but in USA they do, so if their government goes to war they are responsible. And they don't have conscription in US so going to war is voluntary - you don't have to murder people to "get home safe", simply don't go to military, don't choose a job where you murder others. Problem avoided, you safely sit home doing one of hundreds other possible jobs.

You cannot go into someones home and think "if they attack me for intruding i will kill them and it will be justified". That's plain illogical. It sucks everywhere with politics, in my country is like that too, but simply voting more antiwar shifts balance. And thats enough. Americans somehow don't vote on war issues like that. Sorry, it's on you. And it's certanly on you when you join army voluntairly, no recruits - no army to send. And then let them try conscription, i would say it's almost impossible to implement nowadays.

it must be real easy to say all that from behind the mask of anonymous posts, and it is a hell of a lot harder to find a job, especially one with comparable pay with free training, and its not murder when the people you fire on are armed with either conventional fire arms or suicide vests, plus most of the civilians there are harboring or supplying the terrorists organizations we are fighting. oh and just because a political figure says they are going to pull troops out doesnt mean they are actually going to
#92 - xxxsonic fanxxx (12/19/2012) [-]
So if i was registered and had nickname, let's say "booblover69", then it would be true, otherwise it's not?. Sorry, there are many other available jobs in all economies, you always have choice, i think even being unemployed is better than going to war. Of course it's murder, when you kill for example policeman it's not murder because he wore gear and had a gun so he's a "enemy combatant" to murderer?. They lived there always, it's their land, they are not terrorists on their own land, they are resistance forces, US forces are invaders. Politicians lie, sure, but when public support for war fell US pulled out of Vietnam, it could happen again.
