I'm not saying that people don't feel pride in stuff they have nothing to do with, I'm saying it's pretty stupid to.

That line about the hockey team being paid for by the money you pay to the college is clutching at straws man, trying to connect the dots a little too hard.

It was just showing that he is related in some way.
And I guess it's just you when you feel it's dumb to feel pride for this shit,
Because the majority would be on my side considering the amount of people that feel proud for their college teams without actually being on the teams.

I've done lots of shits.

Being proud of family you have a responsibility for, directly influencing their behaviour, is not the same as me being proud of some war that happened before I was born, or some hockey team that I have nothing to do with.

Apples and oranges bro.
User avatar #50 - internetscaresme (03/25/2015) [-]
Well the money he pays to the college also pays for the hockey team.
So he payed part of the hockey team's budget.

Also being proud doesn't have to be something that you directly influenced.
Considering people are proud that they are black, yet they probably haven't done anything close to major for their own race.

Dude, Have you ever heard of a dad being proud of his son?
What about a son being proud of his dad?
Both ways are common things to hear about
Yet only one way is it directly influenced most of the time, As the dad is the reason the son is born.
But the son would have to do something major to change what his dad's done to be proud of him.
Most of the time the son is proud of the dad without directly ever doing something, because it's a way humans feel.

How am I related, in any way, to world war 2, other than I fell out of a vagina in one of the countries that won it.

That you are related to something that happened in the big universe in ours.
It's been claimed that one of the main human goals, is to be relevant, and by being proud of something, You are somewhat relevant to it.

You could be.
I don't see anything wrong with that, Considering you aren't proud of winning it yourself, You're proud of your heritage winning the war.
You don't assume someone is literally involved with directly winning something if they say "I'm proud of being the winning side of blah blah blah", Do you?
