I'd say 3 would be more along the lines of it being better to let go of something small than to sacrifice something in the moment that isn't worth it.
Idk, actually thinking about these is really fucking confusing.

I think #6 is the whole 'like this post to help the homeless' concept. Or maybe people taking an originally good movement like feminism or being against racism and doing stupid things that undermine it. Kind of like 'the road to hell was paved with good intentions'.

A tiny cage? Yes this will make the dog miserable. But a reasonably sized backyard and food in the bowl will make for happy a pupper. Also someone to love it because dogs are both pack animals and have developed a need for human companionship over thousands of years of domestication.

after your previous definition they dont understand the concept of freedom?
a tiny cage and a large cage therefore dont differ.

ofc they understand freedom. they are born to hunt. they have fun hunting. because thats how nature made them.
#46 - rednax (07/18/2016) [-]
There's a difference between freedom and freedom of movement. Dogs need to exercise.

and you honestly think they can in a zoo?
there is a minor difference between the freedom of movement in a zoo and in nature...
large animals in captivity always looks like they suffer...especially polar bears n shit, thats just cruel to see
also stuff like penguins, they swim hundreds of miles each year, i dont remember exactly, but these animals travel a lot.
im really not a fan of zoos man :c
it does look anything but natural seeing these animals in captivity, its just no fun to look at them simply sitting around, waiting for food.

and like i said...hunters are born to hunt. they dont just need excercise. they need to hunt to be happy. they could be scavengers, but thats not how nature made them. they hunt because they love to. ever seen a cat run after a laser? these animals need that shit so badly.

im really really no fan of zoos :cc

I wasn't looking to get into that argument, It's just that to a dog, a domesticated animal, a tiny cage and a large cage differ very much.

yes indeed
but a large cage and nature, the largest cage available, also differ very much
...which was my argument

Animals are not like people. They don't understand the concept of freedom. They only understand hungry and not hungry, if you keep them fed they will be happy.
#63 - anon (07/18/2016) [-]
you are so wrong.. Humans are animals, and we all have emotions. Other animals, like humans, love the sights & sounds of nature, and the freedom to roam it. You have obviously never owned an animal.
#58 - anon (07/18/2016) [-]
So why do some animals refuse to eat until they starve to death when they are locked in then?
User avatar
#19 - syntheticdoll (07/18/2016) [-]
I think they do have SOME concept of freedom or captivity, if you think about it most wild animals are really hard to breed in captivity. Even if they don't understand the whole thing they probably know this is not how they are supposed to live, instincts and such.
User avatar
#20 - dislikinator (07/18/2016) [-]
wild animals in captivity are stressed out because they can't do that thing they used to do. They're usually taken away from their pack. It's not about freedom or captivity, it's about a change in circumstances. And stressed animals hardly breed, especially females, where stress can actually for many mamals destroy the egg cell before ovulation. Because of how change affects animals, the ones that are bred in captivity can't just be set free. They'll usually die, and even if they don't, they'll never act like their true wild equivalent, bearing barely any offspring if at all..

While I'm pretty sure animals don't have thoughts like this, or tell stories, I'm pretty sure that some are more developed than others. If you leave a dog in a tiny cage, and keep it clean and fed, it'll still be misarable. I can buy that argument for snails and stuff, but larger mammals have more complex needs.
