here's one of it's neat parts.

It's not exacly a single game. It's very versatile.

Yes, for the most part you're a small ship flying around shooting at stuff or transporting or escorting or pirating. Or just doing quests that require you to do any of these. But that's barely the tip of the iceberg.

The quests are quite various, of which there are tens of strategy battles (imagine warcraft/starcraft type of strategy, not turn based), being fought against robots on the surface of specific planets, even more text adventures (if you know what one of those old game-book are, imagine plenty of those in one place). There's also quite a few arcade maps in it as well, places where you play your own ship but in a dynamic and action-packed small map with various walls, buffs and dangers, without even considering the often numerous oponents that probably have a ship about as good as yours and any one alone can kill you unless you're very careful.

Overall the game has a lot of things that you can do and can keep you entertained for hundreds of hours (the head of the leaderboard has spent 18930 days (turns) in the game before completing the final objective).

I personally greatly enjoyed the well thought text-adventures, they're filled with humour and some of them are quite challenging - I've spent over 2 hours on a single one of those. One of the most noteable ones is when you get put into prison for misbehaving and you have to survive 90 days, throughout which you can do various things such as training , trying to break-out , snitching to the guards to lower your sentance, win money in cockroach races, win money in physical fights and etc. , each with it's own dangers - prison is a nasty place and just about any action or inaction can get you on someone's bad side potentially leading to death!

fuck that , doing stuff in paint takes way longer than photoshop and I'm too lazy.

Basicly get Space Rangers, they are all great games. HD is on steam and I can promise you it will keep you entertained for way longer than Ark.

i would say yes, but only if you like that kind of game, its pretty grind heavy tbh, but i still like it, unlike other survival games, PvE is actually a big part, with PvP being important but like, you will actually have to struggle to survive against the enviroment.
User avatar #1264677 - ihaspotato (07/03/2015) [-]
Well i really like Destiny and that's a fucking grindfest so i guess i'll get it.

It's fucking amazing. The devs are so fast it's just insane. Since release (which was about a month ago), they have released hundreds of updates containing new building tiers, 4 more dinosaurs, gameplay overhauls, bug fixes, etc. The devs updates (literally) 24/7, I don't know when the fuck they sleep because they roll out updates any time of day.

1) go on youtube and type Ark gameplay
2) watch 2-3 videos
3) try to determine how long do you think you can do this without getting bored
4) decide if that much time is worth the money you're paying
5) choose
