I thought crabs are caught by cage traps not hooks.

Crabs are amazingly stupid. I haven't seen this with crabs mostly because the ocean is (shockingly) really fucking deep , but with crayfish you can catch them with hooks just because they grab onto the bait and are too stubborn to let go. Also, boats can be used to drop the traps/pots/rings.

I'm certain there is a middle ground to be made but I don't think it's crazy to claim that society certainly doesn't do a good job of finding middle ground. It's usually one way the other, favoring whats wanted over needed. Very dangerous I say. I think the effects are pretty obvious already. I agree with your sentiments, but some things go to far I think.

The environment is one example. Industry focuses on what's easiest, people focus on what they want, regardless of the consequences to our biosphere, future sustainability, or even human health.
The presidency of the United States, favoring political correctness, and popularity, over actual competence in government, as a true representation of the ideals America were founded on.
Mass consumption is another example, though pretty basic, endless buying of shit you don't need for material satisfactions.
The fact that no one gives a shit how much poison or how shitty the quality of food or food processing as long as it taste good to them and appeases chemical addictions.
Lower taxes and "Free" stuff even if the local government is in deficit and misuse of funds to appropriate this lead to more problems then were already had.

I can understand that. But I still think the science and reality is extremely important.
A vast majority of human problems, socioeconomic and otherwise, stem from our irrationality as a species. If you pay close attention, you can see just how warped society has become. Everything is distorted, lies are told as truth, the truth as lies. Most things are backwards, special interest, I mean come on,

we live in a society where being politically correct is more important than actually BEING correct. Is there not a problem with that? Is it really okay to let the world be consumed by endless illusions? This lack of realism in society is part of why everything is so fucked up.

Idealism is nice and all, but I think it often does more harm than good. Seems like people don't actually care about what they need as long as they get what they want. As someone deeply concerned with the integrity of our species, how could I possibly disregard the truth to serve a lie?

Now this is just my own opinion, but I think that it does matter.
And I think that people belittle this claim too much.

As the unbiased third party here, I agree with infinitereaper. While yes, once a time comes where the female vagina and/or the male penis can be replicated, I'm more than willing to fuck the first woman to step out of that clinic that's at least a 7(Hey, I still have standards.). But until that day, where chromasomal design matches self-views, I simply cannot view a transexual as a woman/man. Hence my calling them all "dude". Hell, I just call everyone dude, regardless of gender. When someone raises a fuss, I tell them that if they're concerned about a mindless label I give everyone, then they're not going to be happy with their decision. If they're secure in they're sexuality, and thus do not give two shits about being called dude, then they're froody dudes who I think I could handle being around.

I agree with some of that. There is a lot of frustration in people just pandering to other and their own wants to satisfy their own agenda, even if it means sacrifice the integrity of what is actually reality.

That said, if someone wants to play dress up with their body to feel more comfortable with their own perception of their personal persona in the society they're in, I have no issue with it.

Like you said, we're a very irrational species. Much of what we say and do gets all mucked up in self-interst that it's inevitable that society is what it is now. And I don't think we can ever really move past that. And not only are we irrational, but our feelings are complex. We're a species entirely based on our feelings and perceptions. We're not robots.

While it's important to make sure what people say and do isn't clouded and blinded by delusions or misinformation, it's also important to realize that sometimes these feelings are based in reality.

I get your point. But in this context I really don't think playing pretend is inherently delusional and wrong.
