you said it in response to my comment about slaves, hence the assumption that you were defending a slave-owning ceo, duh not every one has slaves, that's intensely obvious.

however CEO's do make 500x the average workers money in a company, on average, and as a result i am less sympathetic to them as a whole.

sure a CEO's work can be stressful, anyones work can be, but when looking at the majority of companies, the ceo's work is the one with the most padded cushions.

I'm just gonna stop you right here and point out that you're saying that a guy that, in the US anyway, makes 500x the average one of his non-slave workers makes, has a rougher time than ACTUAL SLAVES, in a company.

Here you are assuming that every major corporation has metaphorical slaves. The CEO of Costco makes a lot, but still gives a lot to the employees. They get a lot of benefits and even food costs less than bringing your own lunch (even though it's not particularly first choice for health).

Plus, what are you going to do? CEO's essentially own and run the companies, why wouldn't they get the biggest share of the pie? Are you telling me that if you started or inherited a business and had the opportunity to finally make a living that everyone dreams about, you wouldn't take it? I know I sure would. That's the way businesses work and really no amount of whining will really ever stop it. You can enact many different laws and try to strongarm every company into distributing the profit equally, but in the end you just end up creating less of a reason for someone to stay in a CEO position and someone less qualified will take it up because it's open and he doesn't mind trying his hand at running a company.

There is a good reason CEO's make a lot. Sure it's unfair but it's also not fair to blame him/her.

you're strawmanning here really hard.

I did not say that every major corporation had slaves.

Costco founder and former CEO Jim Sinegal earned a $350,000 salary.

To deny that a slave has a worse life is absolutely absurd.

the work of a CEO can be 24/7, it's not all fun and games, you will be happier with 1 hour of leisure time than none regardless of how much money you have

Never said that.

I just pointed out a CEO´s work can also be stressful. Just because someone else has it tougher does not mean he can´t have it hard too.

Also, not every CEO runs a company that has very lowly paid workers. Usually you see in the news about huge multinational companies that have some kind of shady business in other countries, but let me remind you: not every company has factories in China.
