you act like rubber slugs will kill

Rubber slugs will kill. They'll kill the shit out of someone. But they won't also put a hole in the wall behind someone and kill my neighbor or something.

use buckshot or bird shot instead

#15994 - icecubeslayer (07/25/2015) [-]
Well then you've got multiple projectiles, so there's more to miss your target and hit your surrounding. But then again they would lower your chance to miss.
I'm just not willing to take the risk of damaging my own property, personally. The scare factor of a12ga alone should scare off anyone breaking in.

the scare factor is kind of a myth. several armed home invaders will still come at you.

Also bird shot doesnt really penetrate much, if anything it maims more than kills.

Buckshot what im running in my HD right now is just going to kill, which is what you want in most situations against armed invaders. Also buckshot doesnt spread too much, does penetrate though.

Fuck lead slugs though, that shits a last resort.

I hadn't really considered dealing with multiple invaders. I suppose I could load the mag tube with alternating rubber slugs and something like birdshot, just to be prepared for anything.
Now flechette rounds would be pretty interesting for home defense.

wouldnt that be overkill as well? use buckshot at that rate

#16010 - icecubeslayer (07/26/2015) [-]
It would most definitely be overkill. It would also shred anything it hits, including my furniture and etc.
Interesting, but not too practical.

I would not give them my money for $1 a round when you can buy 5.56 ammo for like $6 for 20 rounds.

The problem is that they link together the rounds by hand, so it's more like a labor cost.

there's a range in my area (well sort of its like a 2 hour drive from my house) that rents automatic weapons I know they've got a Thompson I definitely need to go there sometime

I'd like to try out the Tommy Gun or their AK. Turns out they charge something like $1 per round for the SAW, otherwise it'd be my first choice.

there's Time Warner, but they're even worse. At least AT&T is stable, but TWC drops all the damn time for everyone nearby.

Yeah, although it looks like Google Fiber over in Austin scared em a bit, so they're offering substantially better pricing now. Still way too unreliable though, they drop connection whenever there's a storm
