Go and fight for this country before you call anyone stupid.
User avatar #258 - capslockrage (01/01/2014) [-]
Why? maybe he isn't stupid enough to join the army.
User avatar #233 - iLime (01/01/2014) [-]
I don't even know how to respond to that. "if you jump off a bridge you're stupid" "Hey go fight for this country before you say that!"
#239 - anon (01/01/2014) [-]
Nothing about jumping off a bridge was said for one and also my points are that cops dont deserve the pay they get to sit on their asses the whole shift where as a solider wakes up everyday and faces death unlike cops.
User avatar #246 - iLime (01/01/2014) [-]
And i said nothing against that, i feel the same exact way in fact, all the cops I see in my town cruise around eating donuts waiting to give someone a ticket. I know for a fact that if a soldier was in this situation he would have done more than the cops to help the guy.

Not just the site. Everyone hates Romney.

Fair Warning: I have no political affiliation with this remark:

Romney is not only a dumb jackass, the things he says are stupid, degrading, and offensive, to EVERYONE, he offends white people, black people, women, etc.

With sentences like "We should take away welfare so black people have to get jobs"
or
"Rape is not a serious issue. Woman will just have to learn to cope."
User avatar #76 - snood (12/23/2013) [-]
mitt romney never said that, at least tell the kid you're joking when you make up something like that.

Here's a list of his "most offensive" quotes:
politicalhumor.about.com/od/mittromney/a/Mitt-Romney-Quotes.htm

I personally think he never said anything that bad and that his knowledge of business would have been more helpful than obama's "throw taxpayer money everywhere" strategy to fix the economy.

Basically liberals on tumblr turned him into a cartoon character that he totally wasn't. he was very qualified to hold office (he was the governor of Massachusetts and did wonders there) but some people can't handle the fact that a person still has religious beliefs and doesn't think welfare is the answer to every social problem. </rant>
#80 - mbasm (12/23/2013) [-]
He is completely qualified to do the job....but let's be honest, the liberals own the media, it was easy to magnify the fact that he is truly a dumb jackass.

The Welfare thing is a direct quote, and the women thing was said by one of his campaign members. (I forget the technical term)
#72 - anon (12/23/2013) [-]
I'm sorry but I know two things from your post.
A. You're lying about not having a political affiliation with this remark
B. You're lying about what Romney has said

Romney never said ANYTHING close to either of those. Dislike Romney all you want but when you straight up lie to gain support you are an asshole. Spreading misinformation and ignorance isn't something we need more of; regardless of political affiliation.
#79 - mbasm (12/23/2013) [-]
I am actually a Republican.

He did actually say the Welfare thing, it was a "slip up" but he said it. you can find the YouTube video if you truly wish to.

The rape thing was actually a quote from his campaign, he didn't directly say it, but his campaign did....soo...yeah.
#64 - kmichel (12/23/2013) [-]
He has no consistency in his beliefs or values, changing them only when beneficial to his career. His business practice is to buy companies, gut them, make a quick profit, and let them rot and die. He's a morally bankrupt compulsively lying snake oil salesman. I had more on the guy, including many specific examples, but would need to dig up bookmarks from my last PC to find them.
#73 - anon (12/23/2013) [-]
You mean like literally every politician ever? The Clintons changed their stance on gay marriage when it became convenient. Obama completely changed his tune on gun control after he was re-elected.
#84 - kmichel (12/23/2013) [-]
Granted, but his "flip-flopping" and sleaziness is a few step above the average, which is why I hate him more than the average politician. I didn't want to hate him since I'm from Massachusetts, but for me it just can't be helped.

The thing is that it seems like you think that most christians follow Jesus because they want to go to heaven. I don't think that's the case. Religion has to do with so much more than a selfish desire for an afterlife.

I agree, if you don't believe in Jesus, you are not a christian. However, the Pope did not say that atheists are christians. He just said that they too gain access to heaven upon death. Does that make christians less christians? I don't think so. If you truly believe and you truly have faith, you don't need the promise of a paradise to keep believing in God.

That's the third time now you're being condescending for no reason. I'm not sure it's worth keeping up this discussion. Clearly you and I have very different ideas on what makes a good religious person.

And no, it isn't like the constitution analogy. See, the constitution was written to be the foundation of law and order within the independent states of America - but we don't know if the Bible was even written for the same reason. There are many scholars of theology who believe that that the Bible was intended to be allegorical and open to interpretation, to work more as a guideline than a book of laws and rules and threats. You are acting as if the Bible was written by one person, with one purpose and that it can only be interpreted in one way. I personally think that's wrong - and like I said, so do a lot of people who are more educated on the subject than you and I.
User avatar #107 - iLime (11/27/2013) [-]
Im not talking about interpretations, im talking about the straight up number 1 part of the religion that it is constructed around. The fact that if you want to be christian and go to heaven you must follow jesus. If you think otherwise then you probably are not part of a church and are looking for a random debate to make yourself sound smart. If believing in jesus isn't in the religion then it has absolutely no purpose.

That is really pedantic. What the Bible states on the subject of the Bible itself is not relevant; everyone knows that it wasn't written in a fortnight, so to speak. The Bible is not 100% dogmatic - like I said, even Christians several hundred years ago knew that. And no, you are not educating anyone, you are expressing what you believe is true on this subject. To say that you are now educating me on the Bible is like saying that I would be educating you on conservatism if I said that you aren't a true conservative if you didn't vote for Mitt Romney.

Point is, the Bible says many things and times have changed a lot since it stopped being edited. It has gone through numerous translations and alterations since its ancient origin, and if you were to compare what is said in the original Hebrew/Greek versions to today's version, I'm certain you would find a huge amount of differences even after the development of the NIV Bible.
User avatar #105 - iLime (11/27/2013) [-]
Your skull is really thick if you honestly can't understand what i'm saying. I'm saying that believing in Jesus is the basis of religion, and the pope is saying you can get to heaven otherwise. It's like saying America can become a dictatorship because the constitution that listed the basic beliefs of the country was written a while ago.
User avatar #106 - hudis (11/27/2013) [-]

Those are your beliefs, and that pastor's beliefs. You will find plenty among the clergy of equal faith, conviction and knowledge who disagree.

Besides, the Bible wasn't written in a day, a week or a year. It was written over more than a thousand years. It's not up to anyone to make any absolute statements about it, in my opinion.
User avatar #103 - iLime (11/26/2013) [-]
In the Old Testement, the base of the religion, it clarifies on the fact that if you do not believe in jesus then you cannot go to heaven. Noone of the religion can disagree with that if they are of equal faith conviction or knowledge. If they disagree with that then they disagree with the religion. This is not my personal opinion, this is the foundation of the church. The bible is stated to be God's word so if any christian really disagrees with the bible they are not a christian. There is no debate here, I am just educating you on the subject.
User avatar #104 - hudis (11/26/2013) [-]
