Considering its respectable player base and the fact the game costs $45 which players have to repay every time they release a large update... I think they are making plenty

I dunno if itʻs worth the buy tbh. I got it a while ago and I loved the game, its just that the devs kinda screwed us by making a promised element in a game in a form of not a paid DLC... but even worse, an entirely new game that the old players have to repurchase.

People should only consider buying it when they fully release the game with all promised content and not force players to keep shelling out moneys.

You should consider the fact that they do not have a lot of microtransactions and they somehow need to make money to keep the game going.

okay follow up questions
1: mmo, so is it like very other mmo with boring fetch quests that take up 90% of the missions.
2:will the flying around causes motion sickness (have a bad track record with that)
3: are microtranscations a thing? and if they are are they neccary or shoved in my face?
4: one time buy or subscription?

1) There's like 5 variants of missions which are basically just go there and drop this off, Space Truck Simulator, like I said, unless it's a combat mission, then it's go there kill that. Nobody does the missions anyway, they follow no storyline and therefore serve no purpose, plus they pay a ridiulously low amount of money.

2) Never experienced any. Although I've never had an issue with it in flying games. In some FPS games I did though.

3) Yes and no. You can buy shit like skins, but nothing that would influence the gameplay, not shoved in your face by any means either.

4) One time buy. Again, sort of. You buy the ore gameplay, which is the space part, currently with many many things still missing I might add, and as time goes on they might also release payed content like they're doing now with planetary landings and surfaces.

Honestly, I'd advise anyone to just wait till they're done and get some sort of a deal on the whole package. So far the game is not really worth the money it will cost you and the devs still have a loooong way ahead of them to finish it. There's no telling what they might fuck up, add, or not add in the meanwhile.

Horizons is the first paid module that we know off for know and they have stated a number of times that there's probably more like that coming in the future. So yeah, I'm dead fucking sure.

1. No story line at all, but a continuous universe story (you'd have to read shit back from december 2014 to catch up). The quests (or missions) are solely in order to get naval ranking in either Empire or Federation, and credits. However, you can get credits by bounty hunting wanted NPC/players, trading (Buy shit at station A and sell it at station B), exploration (fly all the way into the centre of Milky Way and scan for shit (Game is 1:1 to scale with our galaxy), smuggle or advance in rankings with a powerplay faction (you get a weekly salary depending on your standing)

2. Unless you will fly with a VR set, no I doubt it.

3. The only microtransactions are ship skins. Nothing is shoved in your face.

4. One time buy.
