Motherfucker has a fap hand of epic proportions. What he does with sharp sticks, a string and a large stick is nothing short of wonderful.

#134 - mizory (07/16/2015) [-]
Idk if it was just me but I thought it wasn't as good as I thought it would be

well it was the first ghibli film I got to watch
User avatar #133 - cisdroidcommander (07/16/2015) [-]
the wind rises is great
User avatar #75 - samthediv (07/16/2015) [-]
It was really good as a film.
I can't help but feel Miyazaki was trying to paint the Japanese in a positive light, which was kinda shitty seeming as they committed some pretty fucked up war crimes.
#112 - anon (07/16/2015) [-]
Seriously tht's like blaming all american people for the rape and massacres in vietnam. But that'd be retarded wouldnt it?
#111 - anon (07/16/2015) [-]
japanese military leaders and army =/= the fucking innocent civilians that had nothing to do with it
User avatar #114 - samthediv (07/16/2015) [-]
> That moment when the main character designs the fucking planes for the military.
Funny because their planes were shit and got massacred, which means his shitty designs killed the people he was meant to help
#61 - eyemeralds (07/16/2015) [-]
I reeeeally want to see it. But I'm rewatching a lot in chronological order so I'm only as far as the Yamadas (it, Wind, the Cat Returns, Princess Kaguya, and Poppy Hill will be the only movies I haven't seen)

sauce: Sherlock Hound
#106 - jagerhaus (07/16/2015) [-]
What about Grave of the feels fireflies?
User avatar #119 - eyemeralds (07/16/2015) [-]
That and the live remake.

Yes, there was a live adaption.
Yes, it hurts just as much.

I enjoy many ghibli films but this is one of the few I have not yet seen. Is it better in Japanese or the English Dub? I prefer dubs and I know ghibli dubs are usually pretty good but just want to be sure.
User avatar #103 - thejjmax (07/16/2015) [-]
Late but I watched the English dub, it was pretty good, about the same as other ghibli movies. I always say watch the sub if you're skeptical
#33 - savageoro (07/16/2015) [-]
also castle in the sky always my favorite

User avatar #140 - kyouko (07/16/2015) [-]
The official Norwegian channel; NRK.

My favorite from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli
Porco Rosso
User avatar #117 - maternation (07/16/2015) [-]
My fav aswell.

It's fuckin' good.
#58 - anon (07/16/2015) [-]
I was recommended Porco Rosso, so I watched it. I couldn't finish it all, though. I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be the type of movie that is so bad that it's good or what, but I just really did not like it. The animation and art style was good, but I couldn't get into anything else. Sorry, I'm just expressing my opinion so other people don't make the same mistake as me.

How come you not?
#19 - throbbingjesus (07/16/2015) [-]
I personally like it
#31 - scrappaboi (07/16/2015) [-]
Its good, but not on par with Princess Mononoke, Naussica, Spirited Away and such.
User avatar #20 - maguitox (07/16/2015) [-]
Its a children's movie that can only be really enjoyed by children, unlike other ghibli films where it has a more universal level of enjoyment. Like Cat Returns or Tales of Earthsea
User avatar #87 - whatareyouon (07/16/2015) [-]
yeah 'my neighbor totoro' was also a children's movie and so was 'kiki's delivery service' but if you can't enjoy a good movie just because it's a children's movie then i feel sorry for you.
User avatar #67 - oddygnak (07/16/2015) [-]
Personally didn't really like earthse, it seemed really incomplete as if you'd have to have seen a prequel to fully appreciate it. If it was part of a series it would have been better imo
#80 - aranayia (07/16/2015) [-]
I had found out after watching it, that infact it was part of a series, though all other sections aren't done by ghibli.
Most are books about the old sage guy however as far as I know, there is also a small show.
User avatar #126 - oddygnak (07/16/2015) [-]
Oh cool. Any good?
#132 - aranayia (07/16/2015) [-]
I don't remember them very much, however as far as i remember they were good. still on amazon too
User avatar #22 - throbbingjesus (07/16/2015) [-]
I guess I haven't seen it in a while, so it might be nostalgia talking. Makes sense.
#23 - maguitox (07/16/2015) [-]
I mean its a nice movie for children, as it was meant to be.What really puzzles me is people who are over 20 years old, watch them for the first time and worship movies such as Ponyo. An example being Frozen, on my college dorm everyone was obsessed with the damn thing, a lot of guys too. And then you show these people something different like Prometheus and its "very boring and lacking". More for me I guess, but it's very sad and unnerving, this is why maturity dies off more and more with each generation
#42 - anon (07/16/2015) [-]
Prometheus lacking ? guess they did not see the same movie as i did there LOTS of shit going on some it's subtle as fuck
#49 - anon (07/16/2015) [-]
well the logic is kindda weird at times, but it definitely is fun to watch

Eboshi really should have wiped out that forest

Spirits are dicks.
#43 - swagbot (07/16/2015) [-]
Eboshi's aiight, she just needed to chill and think things through a little more.
User avatar #104 - murrlogic (07/16/2015) [-]
Legally the forest was all hers. She bought all of it.
#142 - swagbot (07/17/2015) [-]
Did anyone consult the millions / billions of creatures living in the forest during this 'legal' sale?

And that's what Eboshi realized in the end, after getting taken down a few pegs.
#143 - murrlogic (07/17/2015) [-]
>Letting Spirit Propaganda poison your mental compass

Clearly you don't understand how the pecking order works. Spirits are technically dead and dead things don't have feelings or voices.

Still, I find it funny how he's the only one who's really into what he likes, while everyone else just wears a shirt and that's it.
