Oh, well it's not that bad. We do have a bit more then that.
But I can really cycle through it in about 10 minutes.

I would talk more about our cities, but I fear that conversation would be very 1-sided.

It does sound very familiar, I have no idea why though.

Doesn't sound like somewhere I've ever been though.
I'm sure it's not as boring as Heukelum though.
You enter Heukelum and after blinking once you've left it again. It's so small and boring.

Well, I'm still about 20 minutes from Utrecht. I always just use that place as a reference point since most people know where that is.

And what's your semi-unknown village called then?

You mean if you know the village?
It's Heukelum.
User avatar #1197 - historycanon (06/09/2015) [-]
About an hours drive (I base that purely on the fact its not far from utrecht. I have indeed never heard of that village.
I myself live in a small semi-unknown village near the hague.

When I say semi-unknown, I mean I dont know what to think of it.. some ppl never heard of it, others go "yeah ofcourse I know that! doesn't everybody?!"

How am I as eurofag supposed to know. At least give me credit for knowing alaska became a state in 1959 in the first place!
User avatar #55 - nyxeos (04/12/2015) [-]
Newfoundland was the first part of what we now call Canada to be settled. It did not become an actual province however until 1949. It was the last to join. Nunavut was the last territory technically in 1999, when The Northwest Territory was split into two and the eastern side was named Nunavut. Not a clue why they did that though.
User avatar #57 - thesovereigngrave (04/12/2015) [-]
Apparently Nunavut was split from the rest of the Northwest Territories because of an agreement between the Canadian government and a non-profit organization that represents Canada's Inuit population in order to create a separate territory for the Inuit.
#27 - purgatoryduck (04/12/2015) [-]
Most states were territories of some sort before being states. You can't just become a state because you're now apart of the US. You have to meet requirements to become a state which mostly deal with population and the approval of the governments involved and probably other things I don't know about.
#21 - raideoactivepilot (04/12/2015) [-]
Because it was just an american territory for awhile and then became a state.
