Was going to say this in the Chapter 5 post but, I read this while the S1 OP of Mushishi kept playing in my head.

He looks more similarly to other superheroes so the populous don't fear him, you are correct.

"Oh no, not a person with a spiky head and no nose!"
#27 - hellomynameisbill (07/25/2016) [-]
remember that the characters don't see life in the cartoon art style and that his form is probably significantly scarier for those in the DC animated universe. On the left you can see what his humanoid form looks like with a realistic art style probably similar to how the cartoon characters see him. , so with the same art style the martian form is probably much creepier.
#28 - awesomedug (07/25/2016) [-]
this is how he was depicted in injustice

That version still has the human facial structure though.

I mean, that may be your reaction, but he may look evil to the mass populous.

Eh, I would be more scared of the guy who shoots lasers out of his face than the creepy looking dude

I suppose, but he looks like everyone else when he's NOT shooting lasers.

All the while will smith is openly trying to shove his freak show of a son onto the public and even tries to defend the walking freakshow

I think he (Will) was just doing what Jaden wanted, his other son isn't some wanna be movie star because he didn't want to be, willow wanted to try rapping, and now she wants to be a singer not just a pop rapper, he's supporting them in what they want to do.

Theres trying to promote and support your kids then there is defending jaden with all of jadens "how can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real" lunacy

I doubt this will ever be economically feasibly on an industry scale.

It is more likely we will get something like self driving tractors.

why stop at tractors

I used a robot similar to this in a lab that I worked in. they cost more than $100K - maybe something like $250K. This one may be cheaper, but I doubt it's a lot cheaper than that.

At the 1:27 mark it says it's $3900 for a kit or that you can download and build your own for free
User avatar
#29 - oltorf (07/25/2016) [-]
well that's a lot cheaper than the one i used.
#8 - glayn (07/24/2016) [-]
Sure. It'll -eventually- make its money back. Seeds are dirty cheap. Pardon the pun. $4000 dollars is like what, £2800? that's like, I don't know, 5 years groceries?
#54 - anon (07/25/2016) [-]
Not everything is about money.
Fuck, I sound like a hippie.

But a lot of people like the idea of self sustainability.

They only real problem with this is that a respectable part of any nations economy is the production, distribution, and sale of commodities.

Such a robot as depicted doesn't make the produce nearly as cheap to produce than it does take away income that would otherwise have gone to farmers, truck drivers and stores.

I'm not saying that it's bad idea, just that we prosper from trading and specializing.
If we all start becoming self sutained generalists, we wil tank the existing economic systems.
I'm not for or against - I just think choices should be made on informed basis.

i just can't imagine the cost and energy it'd need on a large scale, picture all of oklahoma's fields or china's rice mountains having that
