to be honest, I'm more excited for the Badgers season
Melvin Gordon is a preseason watchlist for Heisman, dude is ridiculous
he had 20 less carries than (new Patriot btw) James White and got 200 more yards!
Joel Stave has no excuse now to be inconsistent, he's a redshirt Junior, he should know by now how to run an offense.
The only games I can us lose is to LSU (opening weekend), and Nebraska, our schedule this season outside these 2 games is easy as fuck
Western Illinois
Bowling Green
USF
Northwestern
Iowa
Illinois
Maryland (B1G debut)
Rutgers (B1G debut)
Purdue
and Minnesota

only thing that could make this schedule any easier is to replace Rutgers or Maryland for Indiana.

LSU though in Houston, that's going to be tough.

Dont be surprised if Minn has a breakout year. Kill is an amazing coach his team gets better every year and they were 8-5 last year

true, also, I'm going to keep a close eye on Wyoming, not just this season, but for a few years and see what Craig Bohl does for them (he was the former head coach of North Dakota State).

I think it's more than the Belgians were just too good so the US gameplan couldn't be too effective. They just didn't have the quality to beat the better teams so the tactics were made to look poor.
If you look at how compact they were when they didn't have the ball, they made it difficult when the other team was in possession. The only way they could have shut down the Belgians was too play ultra defensive and park the bus. And as I said in my last comment, credit to them for not doing so and going out and giving it a good go!
The quality of the Belgians just shone through.

And as a Liverpool fan I should hate Tim Howard, but that guy deserved to go through on his own!

Do you have poor reading comprehension? I acknowledged the fact that those teams get their dosh from their fans and sponsors, but they also get it through merchandising.

Also, why the fuck does it matter if they don't get payed as much as a baseball player? Many teams don't earn a lot but they still play their fucking hearts out.
User avatar #28841 - hawaiianhappysauce (07/01/2014) [-]
How the hell do I have poor reading comprehension if you are the one accusing me of saying anything about the skill set of the soccer teams having anything to do with how much they are paid, when really I am talking about the demand for professional soccer players in the US it's low .

Once again, you clearly don't live in america. Merchandising? Merchandising what? I have never EVER seen any Soccer Jerseys in my life. Compared to American Football? Give me a break.

As for the "playing their hearts out." If I me and my friends played our hearts out against a superior team in any sport we would still get our asses handed to us. Skill is a combination of genetics and talent and practice. I guarantee you that there are athletes who play in another sport who could have started off playing soccer, but knew that wouldn't get him anywhere because no one cares about soccer here. So instead they enter the popular sport, make millions, and fuck tons of bitches instead.

Those teams get their money through sponsors, ticket sales, and merchandising and have NOTHING to do with the actual skills of the players. Just because they're not getting payed as much as a pro football player don't mean shit.
User avatar #28836 - hawaiianhappysauce (07/01/2014) [-]
You clearly don't understand what I am saying.

I'm saying because the US doesn't give a rats ass about Soccer (until the world cup happens) there are fewer sponsors and the team makes less money, therefore there is less money to pay the individual who plays on the team, whereas in other sports players make much more because Americans pay money to see these games.

I think if England stopped thinking they were world class and realised they had a slighty better than average side they would do much better. I might be bias because i'm Scottish but the media for them during the world cup is unbearable. So over hyped.

It's not so much that the country doesn't like the sport, it's mainly because you probably won't get paid as much as you would playing American Football, Baseball, or Basketball. There are baseball players that make more money than the entire Soccer team.

Why?
User avatar #28827 - hawaiianhappysauce (07/01/2014) [-]
Why not Germany - they've been to the finals 7 times and won 3 I think. They are also highly ranked (second).

Why not France - Every French person I've met is an asshole.

Why not Netherlands - they flopped to beat Mexico and did not deserve to win in regulation (it should have ended in extra time or penalty kicks). I have no respect for teams that win major favors from the refs.

Why not Belgium - because that would mean they beat the US.
Why Argentina - decent team, not my favorite, but still wouldn't mind seeing them win. It's been a long time since they won.
Why USA - I live here, never even made the finals.
Why Columbia - Never even made the finals.
Why Costa Rica - Same reason as Columbia.

Brazil is the last non euro team I would like to see win since they are given "home field advantage" and they won 5 times and made the finals 7 times.
