Also katanas were used because of their insane quick-draw time in situations where instant reaction is crucial. It kills you before you even know someone was targeting you

Katanas were mostly of symbolic and aesthetic value and for one-on-one duels. I'm not sure whether they were popular on the battlefield, but samurai were very well-known for their skills with the naginata and Japanese long bow along with kenjutsu.

I think it's for the versatility. As demonstrated in the video, a half-sworded zweihander can both slice, stab and pummel. Meanwhile, if you held it with both hands on the grip, you suddenly get super long range and better parrying abilities.

i do see your point, the cross-guard and the pummel off the zweihander where massive but idk. or meybe just use supirior katana and win ery fight ever xdxdxdxdxd

Nope that's exactly the point of having a sword that big. From the same channel you'll find that it's pretty hard to actually cut a spear in combat with a sword, and it's much more useful to simply bash the spear aside with your weapon or buckler and then move in close, making the spear effectively useless. Zweihanders were versatile weapons.
User avatar #427 - hallis (06/24/2015) [-]
Well that's true in a 1v1 or a small battle. But inn a full scale battle with spear formations and whatnot you could afford putting some people with Bigg ass swords to deal with them. I dont know how effektive It was tho. But if you are going to give a man a big fucking sword to half sword all the time, Why not just use polehammer? sorry for somwhat broken english

I was curious is I could have your Fj points? I enjoy to play the game items and it really helps to have them and since you are not playing I was wondering if maybe I could take them off your hands?
