People like Gary Johnson and Ron Paul might sound swell, until you learn that they're pretty much Anarcho-Capitalists and their economic policies would burn down the American economy.
#8392 - devout feminist (09/07/2012) [-]
They want a limited state. Anarcho-capitalists want dissolution of the state and passing all of its vital functions on to private business. Big difference there, so quit trying to smear Johnson and Paul with your bullshit. I don't see them trying to turn law enforcement, courts, and bureaucracy over to private companies.

And if Gary Johnson's policy's would "burn down the American economy," then how the hell did he leave New Mexico with a balanced budget and turn its deficit into a surplus all while creating tens of thousands of new jobs?
User avatar #8393 - deltadeltadelta (09/07/2012) [-]
They're minarchists. They're a small step away from anarchism.

Gary Johnson slashed indiscriminately at the public sector and privatized New Mexico's prisons.

He's of the belief that the market would regulate itself. If it was up to him he'd eliminate all financial and corporate regulations. The Bank pissed away your money? Choose a different bank. Your kid's toys have lead in them? Don't buy toys from that company again.

Libertarians might be endearing on social and foreign policy, but their economic policies are horrendous.
#8412 - devout feminist (09/08/2012) [-]
I highly doubt he'd get rid of all market regulations. Libertarians may support small government, but even they'd agree that removing ALL regulations on the market would be an absolute disaster.

Either way, your presented scenario is still better than dealing with government. Government pissed away your money? Too bad, you have to continue on for years of them pissing away your money until elections, where you only get a chance to change that.
User avatar #8417 - deltadeltadelta (09/08/2012) [-]
That's what American Libertarianism is. It isn't far from Anarcho-Capitalism. They belong to the Austrian school (the thought that the economy is best left unattended)

The US system is broken, but in democracies the government answers to the people, the people dictate how their money is spent. The problem in the US is a stagnant, two-party system and a terribly ignorant populace.

The US would be better off if it was a parliamentary democracy.
#8423 - devout feminist (09/08/2012) [-]
Our presidential democratic republic or a parliamentary democracy can both work just as well. It's the ignorance factor that can send either of them to ruin.

The US government was also meant to answer to the people, but the masses became stupid and lost their vigilance in keeping the government in check. This allowed much corruption to spawn in government and businesses. Our officials and businessmen started to care less about serving the people and more about getting into power. If the same scenario occurred in a parliamentary democracy or any other democratic system, it too would break.

The "stagnant, two-party system" is a result of the people's ignorance and their black and white views on everything. If we fix the ignorance then that won't be a problem anymore. People will begin voting in officials other than Republicans or Democrats for once.

User avatar #8343 - akkere (09/07/2012) [-]
I'm mostly a "debate the issues as they come" and "recognize all circumstances to it's solution" kind of a guy.

Can't say I'm Dem or Rep because I don't really like either of them. Both water down issues, both bring stagnant performances with, bi-partisan is bad mmkay, etc.

Basically I try to be independent toward the issues.
What's your political standpoints, if any, if you don't mind me asking?
User avatar #8345 - hadtomakeanewname (09/07/2012) [-]
I agree with your standpoint on most parts. You are absolutely right that the two parties tend to blame all of the problems on the other viewpoint. Personally things i prefer tend to fall in line with the republican side of the spectrum, but i cant say I fully agree with all of their ideals. My biggest concern with my country (America) today, is that i believe the government is too big. Im my opinion, government should serve as a backbone to the people, and help those who fall in the cracks. However, my government tends to spend tax dollars on thingss that aren't neccesary and trivial rather than focusing on larger issues. Tax dollars here go towards many unneccesary government jobs, and could be much better spent. I think that if my country can fix these issues, than many, if not all other economic and political issues will fall into place and be fixed.

I don't plan on picking on anyone. As a christian I know that all people are created in God's image and should be loved and treated respectfully. So if I give any advice it won't be an attack, but out of care and respect. Thanks for the input.

Unless writer is incompetent superman tends to be well matched. Fights are almost never one sided. Incredibly overpowered superman hasn't been seen since Silver Age in the seventies.

In the armor Iron man is more invincible then Superman. Actually that's the title of Iron Man comic book "Invincible Iron Man" and when he (rarely) comes across something he can't defeat, he makes a new armor with new abilities to do it.
Atleast for superman there are silver bullets like kryptonite and magic, Iron Man has virtually no weaknesses, he is even shown to be immune to telepathy because he is too smart.
User avatar #55 - IamEllis (09/06/2012) [-]
well yeah, it would be as boring as fuck if they said "the somewhat durable iron man"
User avatar #50 - hadtomakeanewname (09/06/2012) [-]
well, iron man doesnt have any superpowers, other than high intelligence. whereas superman can shoot lasers from his fucking eyes. any of iron mans enemies or villains wouldnt stand a chance to superman. Thats why i think superman is a little dull, when i used to read the comics. Its usually a one sided battle, unless kryptonite is involved.
